Burns did one of the most indepth series on The Civil War that I have ever seen

I'd love to get a copy of the DVD of this one on WW2

I watched the Burns special last nite --- overall --- it is true to line in the makeup of American families from each of the 48 states who went to war

He spent the majority of last nites special --- Part One --- dealing with the Pacific Theatre of Operations --- although Roosevelt and Churchill decided to focus attention in the European Theatre --- there was a war going on in the Pacific against the Japanese of which many of us amature WW2 buffs sometimes completely miss

Also --- I watched Eastwood's flick "Flags of Our Fathers" --- true to form along side the book --- not the typical "Shoot 'Um Up" that Eastwood is typical of --- Can anyone find out how much $$$'s Rosenthal made off that picture???

 

I thought it was interesting last night. A little narrowly focused though by focusing on only four towns. Dealing with the early war in the Pacific was good though. The photography was good.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but I think a more full view could have been attained by getting outside the idea of four towns.

 

I watched most of the show last night and my wife joined be during the last hour. I am pretty weak on my knowledge of the Pacific theatre. I found the show to be riviting. Can't wait to see more. I recorded all of the episodes of the Civil War by Burns several years ago and I enjoy going back to watch them occasionally.

 

Ken Burns is the best. I will watch anything he turns out because I know it will be quality programming. Top notch.
