My opin- 'Tongues' can also be a sign of carnality.

McKissic seems bound and determined to have his way about the issue.

He not only wants the freedom to do it, "Who is stopping him?" But he wants it accepted by the SBC. He wants it to be open for discussion and for people to find it as the norm.

Kind of sounds like those in some other chosen lifestyle I know.

Most charismatics I know like to view their PPL as a sign of "true spirituality"----like---"I have arrived spiritually!!"

I have said on another thread here that the true sign of spirituality is not the ability to "speak in another tongue"---but the true sign of spirituality is the abiltiy to control the tongue God gives you at birth!!

A good many of charisimatis I know----buddy---they can go on with their so called "gift" but you get them in the public and you'll hear some of the foulist garbage coming from their mouths----I wouldn't give you two cents for "real spirituality" like that!!!

no he doesn't want everyone in the SBC to be using a private prayer language. Brother McKissic is just asking for the SBC not to go down the sad road of fundamentalism and allow for freedom within this area, particularly for our missionaries. Don't try to suggest that McKissic and others are saying this is a primary teaching on the field, but if someone is so led and they maintain the purity of their conduct in regards to 1 Corinthians 14 than they shouldn't be disqualified from service.

The critics of McKissic's position never seem t deal with 1 Cor 14 too much.

That is not a very sure statement.

Anyone can use their gifts to glorify themselves or God.

Preachers exercise carnality when they do not study and give out colored water for meat.

Why should he be less passionate in something he truly believes. Even If I disagree with someone I can still respect and have dialog with him if he says what he believes. I fear the people who follow a person who says nothing and stands for nothing.

Don't you think there are some current SBC leaders who are chameleons?

Check out the other articles on BP dealing with PPL - James Smith of the Florida Baptist Witness is attempting to pull off one of the conservative resurgence typical tactics of guilt by association. McKissic is relying on McBeth who used Shurden who while at Southern Seminary gave lectures warning of the Conservative Resurgence - the horror!

Guess Smith did not want to be outdone by Moran in his proposal to the Ex Comm of the SBC and all the guilt by association he loves to toss around. Check out Marty Duren at www.sbcoutpost.com

    Brother gb,

I just stated my opinions. It just appears that McKissic is pushing to get the PPL accepted. I am sure that he is a great guy otherwise.

Are you REALLY attempting to compare this to homosexuality?

I apologize if I have misunderstood you.

Wouldn't you push on something you have strong convictions about when others are using their power to come against what you firmly believe? I would hope so.

We read about carnal preachers every week who are part of the SBC who most likely do not speak in tongues. Some have been sleeping with people they work with or are in their congregation. A few years ago we heard about a carnal preacher who was one of the chairman of the trusted trustees when Dilday was fired at SWBTS. He was in support of the conservative resurgence yet did not fail to shack up with two ladies in his congregation. He was in favor of everything the trustees did and believed.

Just because someone claims to speak in tongues does not make them carnal nor does one who claims to not spoeak in tongues be godly.

Spirituality is measured by relationship with God not by an approved doctrine which others may agree or disagree on.

You are correct it is a comparison but not in the way you have understood it. The comparison I make is not between the error but in the methodology in which it is being pushed on others.
