These 9 Maps Should Absolutely Outrage Southerners

I'm from Minnesota so I'll not comment on southern life. I can say that these graphs and their so-called conclusions are some of the sloppiest "reporting" I've ever seen.

... a whole lot of supposition based on bias. But then, consider the source.

You mean like the poverty level is high because there are no minimum wage laws? And the lowered potential for economic advancement is not because it's (mostly) an agricultural economy, instead the implication it's because the minimum wage is lower. And I wonder why cigarette smoking is higher in the South? Could it be, I don't know, because tobacco is grown there? Linking the word "poverty" and the phrase "affordable health care" is so breathtakingly stupid - - is anything affordable if you are in poverty? - - well, as you say, consider the source.

Do people make less money down South - possible - but is it because prices lower.?

Figure it this way take the averae price of:

1- a gallon of gas
2- a gallon of milk
3- 100 wats of electrictiy
4- Dry cleaning of a mans 2 piece suit
5- 13 week subcribition of the Sunday Newspaper

How many hours would the average man have to work to obtain those producsts/ services. Then compare the answer from different parts of the country.

Hate and bias. Ugly stuff.

The Huffington Post is just another highly-unreliable and ultra-liberal mouthpiece of the Left-Leaning Washington DC Establishment.

One needs to take what they report on with a grain of salt when it comes to subjects such as that which is cited in the OP.

It often singles out the Deep South of our nation as the repository of certain lifestyles that conflict with its notions of Political Correctness.

I, for one, am not a bit surprised that it chose to run an article such as this that blatantly disparages the area of our nation in which I opted to call my home.

Yes, we have some problems and challenges that need to be corrected, but, OTOH, so do other parts of our country.

I'm not about to hold my breath while waiting to read what it has to say about, for example, the problems of urban blight that exist in most all of our nation's major metropolises--most of which have had liberal Democrats as their mayors for several decades.

Then, too, I doubt that this "liberal rag" will present any reasonable, Constitutionally-based articles on the problems we face with the ever-expanding challenges of illegal immigration.

You can read this rather useless mouthpiece of liberal nonsense if you wish, but as for "Yours Truly," well .... my refrigerator has some smelly fish that need to be wrapped to lessen the stench in my kitchen!! :BangHead: :tonofbricks:

The cost of living down south is lower so of course wages are lower. What you pay for a measley apartment up north will get you a nice 3 bed home down south.

The op is far left propganda

Is the lower costs the reason so many in the South are on food stamps.

And yet folks from all over the country move to the South. Who'd a thunk?

We're moving back this summer. Can't wait to get out of Yankeeville.

Born and raised in Alabama, lived up North for twenty years. We still go back several times a year for football and vacations.

Cannot wait to go back.

When my grandparents left Alabama, they asked my mother's second husband, a real estate attorney, to come down and help them sell their house. At that time, their house was appraised at just over 100k. He was shocked. He said, "Do you realize that if we were in New Jersey, your house would be valued at over $1,000,000?"

The difference is staggering.

One of the great things about the United States, you can live wherever you want to. No one has built a wall along the Mason-Dixon Line. If the south is so bad then why are populations increasing while the Rust Belt and California are seeing people move out?

Live where you want.

Lewis Grizzard, a great southern author and humorist, used to say:
We don’t mind if Yankees move down south. We really don’t. Come down here, breathe our air, drink our water, marry our women.

There is just one think we ask.

Don’t tell us how you used to do it in Cleveland, ‘cause we don’t care.
