Things Which May Have Passed...

...since the Acts period?

I have been taught that many of the early gifts and ceremonies have passed out of use because now we have God's revelation in print: the Holy Bible.
Is this correct?

Our foundation has been and shall always be Christ:

For other foundation
can no man lay
than that is laid,
which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:11

Now we can test all doctrines and spirits through the word of God with the Holy Spirit.

Here is a partial (not complete) list of things which may or may not have passed out of use:

1 water baptism at or very near the time of receiving Christ
Acts 2:38, 8:12, 8:36

2 gifts from the list in 1 Corinthians 12

word of wisdom
word of knowledge
faith
healing
working of miracles
prophecy
discerning spirits
tongues
interpretation of tongues

3 "minor" ceremonies/behaviors
love feasts
foot washing
dedication of children
laying on of hands
women wearing head coverings
calling elders to pray for the sick and anoint with oil
greeting with a holy kiss

You have a slight mistake on "women wearing head coverings", as scripture does not actually say that (it's talking about hair as a covering, not a scarf/cloth), and one of the most important lists:

Eph 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
Eph 4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
Eph 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Also "foot washing" is not a 'minor", but a direct command from Jesus that is especially to be done.

The 'holy kiss' is often misunderstood. Persons generally do not study the word "kiss".

The gifts have not ceased, and cannot cease until we all come in the unity of the faith ... unto a perfect man (Christ Jesus) ... (which hasn't happened yet).

Cessationism post AD 90's (at John, death of John, after Revelation, etc) is a heresy. A dangerous heresy, as per the context.

Dear Alofa Atu,

Thank you for your response.
You may have missed the line near the top of this thread, " a partial (not complete) list of things which may or may not have passed"
in which I said may or may not.
I am testing the waters to see if what I have more or less been taught can stand.
I do not necessarily agree that all in the list have passed.
All those scriptures you listed do not make all of my "list" false or true.
They can be applied to many activities and doctrines from the New Testament which are in common practice today.

No, I caught what you stated. I just wanted to be sure the important stuff wasn't missed. Continue on.
