    Just Curious?

    Is anyone reading these?

If so, are they interesting?

    Are they educational? ;)

Or, should I just stop? [IMG]

Or, should I keep [IMG] ?

I always check the headers to see if I'm interested. I read about 40-50% of them.

When I read them they usually are. (I've had a number of Baptist history courses in college and seminary, so I'm familiar with much of the history.)

Yes! Baptists need to know their heritage.

Do what you need to do, but I hope you keep doing them. It may take a while to catch on.

Typing is good. Keeps the fingers limber! [IMG]

My only request (as moderator) is that you cite the website from which you are getting the information. [IMG]

Otherwise, I think that it is useful to us. As BB said, our history is not only important to us, it is essential.

Actually I and my daughter type these up every day and post them. We get them from a book entitled "This Day in Baptist History" by E. Wayne Thompson & David L. Cummins.

As a general rule no, I don't read them.

I used the book for my daily devotions 2 different years and then used it as a source and added other resources to write Baptist history articles that I posted on here when this started some years ago (5 years?) The only thing I would ask, have you contacted the authors for permission to copy and post their work here. They are good men who would probably say yes, but it is copyrighted.

That is a good idea. Please send the authors a bried letter asking for their permission. Thanks.

I looked through the front of their books, and found nothing of how to get ahold of them.

Anyone have a e-mail address or something to reach them?

Would like to start this again.

Justified, don't be discouraged because those "This Day" topics do not receive a lot of response. These are a type of post that is often read but seldom responded to.

Short quotes from books usually do not break the copyright law (in my understanding), but in this case you are copying their entire material for that day (I assume) and therefore may be into some copyright issues. I would advise, as did Clint and the webmaster, that you check into it and be sure you have proper permission. Best wishes on the future of the endeavor.

    Thank you for your support.

The board has raise a very good point, and I want to be sure that I have the blessing of those who wrote this book, before I over step my bounds of copywrite.

If I recieve their blessing for posting these each day, then I will begin and will try to post everyday.

And I do realize that these type of posts go with out replies, but I wanted to be sure that there was at least one person reading them. For just one is worth the time and effort, as it is with soul winning. [IMG]
