This is Rich. It's starting. Ohio, the Swing State that helped elect obama, your Federal Govt thanks you. (what have I been saying???) Not even a week out from the election. But note that the Agency withheld the news until after the big sweep.....

Ohio families receiving food stamps could get an unwelcome surprise come January: $50 less every month in assistance.

For the 869,000 households enrolled in the program for the poorest Ohioans, that could amount to about $520 million annually out of the grocery budgets.

Because of the way the federal government calculates utility expenses for people receiving the benefit, a mild winter nationwide last year, and a lower price for natural gas, many families could experience a significant cut in aid, those familiar with the program say.

Recipients should get a letter from the state Department of Job and Family Services this month explaining the change, said Ben Johnson, a spokesman for the agency.

Let's see how many of those who voted for the President kick themselves for doing so. I'm sure there will be a lot of them.

This shouldn't surprise anyone, including those who put Obama in office.

The handwritting was on the wall in 2009. Obama wouldn't raise taxes on the middle class. Within weeks he slapped a whopping tax on cigarettes with the greatest impact on the lower income levels. Stats show the majority of smokers today are in those levels. Obama had to know this, when he raised taxes on the poor.

There isn't much that he'll (and his adminstration) will do that would surprise me. His track record for the last 4 years speaks for itself.

Are you arguing for automatic increases?

It has nothing to do with the election. It has to do with the winter, whether it is a warmer or a colder winter than normal. This would have happened regardless of who was elected ... unless they changed the guidelines.

So will the guidelines be changed?

If I remember correctly - the same or similar formula is used for Social security
