Gee, since they won by a 70% margin, that tells me that 70% of Palestinians want Israel eliminated, since that's Hamas' charter. They have vowed not to change it. Therefore, it will be hard to elicit any sympathy from me, when the Palestinian civilians start getting blown up. I saw them celebrating dead Americans after 9/11. I have read reports of how they ripped apart the greenhouses that would have employed thousands of them. I have seen the reports of them lobbing missles into Israel, and seen the outrage when Israel dares to defend themselves.

    I am extremely disappointed in Bush, and how he would encourage this. You can't have peace with terrorist governments.

    Hamas has always had the hearts and minds of the Majority. The only reason they have not won before is because this is "Palestine's first truly competitive election" according to the cnn report. The other elections had controlled outcomes. All of that dancing in the streets we saw on 9/11 was not just a media creation. If anything they down played the joy expressed on 9/11.

    BTW Bro Curtis, Bush does not support it. He has said he will not negotiate with a Hamas govenment.

    Palestinians continue to shoot themselves in the foot. When will they ever learn?

    It doesn't matter as long as our tax dollars keep on flowing to them like they have for so many years and will continue to do. Nope, talk is cheap. The mouth doesn't line up with the money we throw at them.

    I have no problem calling the people of Palestine my enemy.

    As far as Bush goes, yes, he has had words of warning, but his ideas put this in motion. Of all the stupid reasons people give us to hate Bush's policies, here is a real issue, and it gets mostly ignored.

    I doubt our aid packages will continue like they have.

    Does anyone think this will possibly lead to a Likud party Prime Minister of Israel? Perhaps Netanyahu again?

    Actually, Hamas won 58% of the seats.

    Hamas, in spite of its terrorist leanings, provides social services to Palestinians. Fatah has provided a lot of corrupt government to the Palestinians. Therefore, I am disappointed but not surprised that Hamas won 58% of the seats.

    Now that Hamas will have actual day-to-day governing responsibilities hopefully it will moderate its rhetoric and be a responsible political party for the Palestinians so that the peace process can continue to move forward toward a two State solution for the sake of the Israelis and the Palestinians - especially the children.

    For the sake of the children of the Israeli and Palestinian children I hope not.

    </font>
Yeah, and maybe my cat turned himself into a dog while I was working.

    Face it, Ken. These people don't want peace. They said they won't remove the destruction of Israel from their charter. Why trust them ?

    I'm ghrowing less hopeful....

    Suicide Bombers' Mother Elected to Palestinian Parliament

    'Mother of the Struggle' Says She Would Sacrifice Remaining Sons for Jihad

    GAZA, Jan. 26, 2006 — - Mariam Farahat, who was elected to the Palestinian parliament, can work a crowd like a veteran politician -- shaking hands and greeting supporters. When she gets on the stage at a Hamas rally, she is the star attraction. She was one of Hamas' most popular candidates in Wednesday's election.

    In Gaza, Farahat is known as Um Nidal, or Mother of the Struggle -- a mother who sent three of her six sons on Hamas suicide missions against Israeli targets.

    "We consider it holy duty," she told ABC News. "Our land is occupied. You take all the means to banish the occupier. I sacrificed my children for this holy, patriotic duty. I love my children, but as Muslims we pressure ourselves and sacrifice our emotions for the interest of the homeland. The greater interest takes precedence to the personal interest."....

    I don't trust them. But apparently a majority of the Palestinian people do trust them to continue to provide and expand social services.

    Put yourself in Palestinian shoes. Who would you have voted for - Fatah or Hamas? If those were my only two choices in that situation I really can't say for which I would have voted.

    Consider it to be a similar situation to having to choose between Bush and Kerry - except that the situation is on steroids.

    And we have Robert Byrd as a U.S. senator and he was once a member of a militant group and you know what they did.

    Would you like my thoughts on "Sheets" Byrd, and the people who voted for him ?

    Not even close, Ken. A very weak analogy. As much as I dislike Byrd, he's not calling for an entire nation's desrtuction.

    Ah yes, for the children. Doing anything other than taking a strong stand against a Hamas-led Palestine would be an injustice to the dozens (hundreds?) of Israeli children who have been murdered at the hands of Hamas bombers. We have stated we will not negotiate with terrorists. Let us hope that President Bush will be consistent enough to not put Israel to do so.

    Maybe not... but a pretty close approximation of it when you consider there were far more blacks in the US when he was in the Klan than there are Jews in Palestine right now.

    Byrd is checked by the sane... It remains to be seen if anyone in Hamas is actually sane or humane.

    </font>
You can hope all you want but Hamas now has teeth in its threats against Israel. And rest assured, they hate Israel and desire nothing to do with peace unless it is with every Israeli dead. This is a terrible situation but not unexpected when you give the vote to evil people.

    Israel again needs Netanyahu, and better stick with like minded leaders.

    People who are evil compared to whom?

    Whom else do you want to prevent from voting - all non-Bush supporters in the United States perhaps?

    Yeah, the KKK just wanted to annihilate a whole group of people whose skin pigmentation didn't match theirs.

    The point is that there are rotten apples in politics, including in the United States.
