Just a note of celebration in the field of sports entertainment that Tiger Woods won the PGA Championship, his 13th major. It is enjoyable watching this devoted competitor demonstrate how to dominate in a sport.

I enjoyed watching part of the last round. He's an amazing competitor.

Woody Austin provided the laugh of the week when he actually said that he had outplayed Woods on Friday even though Tiger had scored 7 shots better. (Woods shot a 63 on Friday, Austin shot a 70).

People keep tugging on Superman's cape.

Actually Friday was "the tournament", for Woods. He posted a record-tying 63, seven shots better than Austin and five shots better than Els. And he won overall by two over Austin and three over Els. So for the other three days of the tournamant, both Austin and Els actually outscored Woods. Take away Friday, and someone besides Woods would have won the PGA. That's why they make the tournaments four rounds.

Factor in the US and British Amateurs, considered as 'majors' in Bobby Jones' day (as am amateur, he was not eligible for the PGA) and you get Jack Nicklaus 20; Tiger Woods 16; and Bobby Jones 13.

Interestingly enough, neither Jack nor Tiger ever won the British Amateur. They've merely won everything else in sight, large and small alike, over the last 50 years.

I don't have the exact quote but I saw an interview with Jack in which he told the story of having played a round of golf once with Bobby Jones who, at the end of the round, said, "I don't know anything about the kind of golf you play." Jack said he never understood that statment until he played a round with Tiger.

How many more majors do yall see Tiger winning?

Is it possible he ends up with 25-30?

At his age, i would not doubt him reaching the 25-30 range...but i think the low 20's will be more of a reality. He'll probably match Jack's 18 in the next 2-3 years.

I used to be a big Tiger Woods fan. To the point that I switched to using Nike equipment because he does. But some of the magic has now faded. No doubt he is wonderfuly talented, but frankly his attitude has begun to turn me off a bit. I saw him in person once at the Buck Open- he has a terrible mouth. Oh well, should we expect anything more from one who to our knowledge doesn´t know Christ.

Clearly though there is nobody better than Tiger right now.

I had a few of my church members attend the PGA in Tulsa and one of them got pretty close to Tiger at one point and he shared the same opinion. But as you said, what can we expect?

When I think of Tiger, I think of this verse:

"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" - Matthew 16:26

I think he'll eclipse Jack, but not in 2 years. He could do it in 3, but I think 4 or 5 is more realistic.
