There must be 50 ways to leave Windows.... ;)

But I'll go with the Eagles "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave" ;)

If I want to leave Windows, I have about 5000 flavors of Linux to play with... no need for new hardware.

The problem is all in your PC, she said to me.
The answer is easy, just use Open Source, said she.
It's still a struggle from my Windows to be free,
Can there be fifty ways to leave your Windows.

I loaded Linux and I liked it very well,
It has security, I really think it's swell.
Now I am free at last, from Windows spyware hell.
I know there's fifty ways to leave your Windows.

Windows? I could get fired for that.

    Linux? Why bother.

The Best Operating system in the world can be downloaded free along with the Source code.

    Solaris 10.

Of course, you might have to use some Linux drivers to run it on that el-cheapo pc, but I love a challenge. It runs great on my Fujistu laptop, and of course all my sparc hardware.

I have not tried Solaris, but I gotta say that after using Mandrake, Suse, Redhat and others, Ubuntu Linux rocks!

I run Solaris 9 on my Sun Workstation, I would upgrade to 10, but I don't have that computer hooked up to the internet right now. I have to get a new modem first. [IMG]

    Solaris 10 Page

Here is a link to a page on Solaris 10

about ubuntu linux...I saw a blog post from a Solaris Kernel Engineer talking about wanting to integrate the ubuntu package management code into Solaris. with some other stuff from debian. With open solaris, there may eventually be some Solaris/Linux hybrid operating systems developed.

Solaris 10 is about an 85% rewrite from 9, mindblowing changes in the way it operates, but the commands are remarkably similar, with many new ones.

The Ubuntu package management is great. It uses apt-get and the repositories are loaded with free programs. There is no dependency problems like you get with RPM files, and everything just works.

When I get some time, I will have to download Solaris 10 and give it a shot too.
