A new 60 page booklet [8.5 x 11 size] that lists over 2,000 differences that affect the sound of words between the 1611 edition of the KJV and the present Oxford KJV edition along with other information about KJV editions is now available at the web address below:

So have you read it? If you have, is it worth the read?

Yes, I have read it. I am its author. For anyone that wants to check the differences between the 1611 edition and today's Oxford KJV edition, it is a valuable reference tool. Pages 3-46 are a list of those differences. In addition, it documents several KJV-only claims about the number of differences and shows them to be inaccurate. Furthermore, it examines the claim that today's KJV editions are the 1769 and shows that today's three Cambridge editions are not every word the same in text as the 1762 Cambridge edition and that today's Oxford edition is not every word the same in text as the 1769 Oxford edition. It also provides over 3 pages of sample differences between today's KJV editions such as the present 1873 Cambridge text that is now printed in Zondervan editions, the present Cambridge Standard Text Edition, the present 2005 New Cambridge Paragraph Bible, the present American Bible Society KJV edition, the present Oxford edition in the Scofield Reference Bible.

Did you get bored at the translations forum and just had to come over here to spout your pablum?

We get it. You have appointed yourself to single handedly wipe out KJVO from the face of the earth.

    Good luck pal.

Perhaps you are influenced by Waite here, since he talked about "changes to the ear" (and Streeter spoke of "phonetic changes"). My first thought when I read this was "what real difference does changes that 'affect the sound' make"? Changes in dialect and accent probably account for many more changes in sound than that from 1611 till now. Does the book discuss issues other than change in sound?

Second, how was your experience with Lulu? Would you recommend it? Did you encounter any problems using them as your publisher?

    Thanks.

So, the moral of this story is, Don't build a doctrine based on one word only. That word may change according to the publisher of your "Bible".

I think this whole thing is classic Shakespeare, "Much ado about nothing."

    Cheers,

    Jim

    I agree.

Who builds doctrine on just one word anyhow?

Not even the cults do this.

One purpose of my booklet was to document that Waite's claim of only 421 changes that affect the sound was inaccurate. In listing all the differences, it does list the various verses where from 1 to 5 words were added by later editors and the verses where 1 word in the 1611 was omitted by later editors or printers. It also lists the verses where there is a difference in the number [whether singular or plural] of words. It also lists some of the word differences between the 1762 Cambridge edition and 1769 Oxford edition and today's KJV editions. It also lists over 3 pages of sample differences in present KJV editions, and shows that some of the differences in the 2005 Cambridge edition had already been introduced by Noah Webster in 1833.

I am preparing a second booklet that will show that the changes were not just the correction of printing errors. The KJV translators were responsible for some of the renderings that later editors changed or corrected.

I had decided to try Lulu after obtaining reprints of the text of a 1535 Coverdale's and 1540 Great Bible printed by Lulu. If you have the program that they use, there would probably be no problems. I did have some problems in getting my Microsoft word document to convert to their type program. Originally I had the margins of my document already set for a standard size booklet, but when their program converted my pages from 8 1/2 by 11 to standard size it made the type size much smaller and changed my pages. I changed my margins to full size pages and when it converted a few lines still when over to the next page and some tabs in my columns moved. It didn't take long to upload my file to them, and to remove it. I may have adjusted my document and uploaded it 10 times before I thought it was acceptable to be printed. Someone with more computer experience might not have those problems. The quality of the finished product was good.

    I skimmed the first few pages. What a piece of trash. That publication is good only for lining a bird cage. Like these birds;
    Re 18:2
And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Re: Today's KJV and 1611 Compared

Av1611jim, are you objecting to accurate information about editions of the KJV? What errors did you find in the few pages of the booklet you examined since I would be glad to correct any unintended mistakes? Do you think that the end justifies the mean since you seem to have no problem with the use of inaccurate or false claims made by D. A. Waite and repeated by several other KJV-only authors?

Apparently you don't know what you are talking about since you claim an ability reserved for God.
    1:17
But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

You would do well to take heed to what Jesus is saying here. First, you have no ability to know what I am thinking at any given time. Secondly; you are falling into the SAME error we KJVo are accused of, namely, causing division an strife among the brethren.
My advice is find another hobby horse to ride. I RARELY IF EVER find you on other forums here. That ought to say something. Like, you have an axe to grind. Do something useful, like joining in on discussions about the mission field, or something! LOL
And BTW; I had never even heard of those fellows in your booklet before I entered the BV/T forum, and I have been saved since 1-20-1980.
My objection ought to be clear to the discerning reader, but in case you missed it Logos; you seem to be a self appointed champion of some imagined cause. Does the name Don Quixote mean anything to you?

I received my copy in the mail a couple days ago. It's a fantastic resource (especially if you have any interest/involvement in the KJV-only issue), and Rick Norris has done some meticulous work to produce this. Thanks for your effort in this, Rick! :)

I'm impressed, even though I haven't seen the document. Careful research is such a beautiful endeavor.

The information in this booklet is now also available as a download at the same web site in order to make it easy for anyone who wants to compare the 1611 and today's KJV editions.
