What is the purpose besides interesting reading?

 

The signatories of this document are an interesting cross section of Reformed thought. There are two Baptists (Mohler and Dever), one Presbyterian (Duncan) and one Charismatic (Mahaney). The differences between them are manifold. Mohler and Dever are credobaptists and dispensationalists. Duncan is paedobaptist and a covenant theologian. Mahaney believes in the current operation of the charismatic gifts. But despite their pronounced differences, they gathered together to agree on the gospel. All four are Reformed in their soteriology. That one fact was enough to provide unity.

Interesting, isn't it? Try getting an Arminian Baptist and a Calvinistic Baptist to agree. It would be easier to make friends with the Taliban. But these four brothers found common ground in the doctrine of sovereign grace.
