The initial Top 4 committee rankings come out tonight. Who are your top four?

My top four are as follows:

    1 - Clemson
    2 - Baylor
    3 - LSU
    4 - Ohio State

Strong considerations go to the following, who round out my top 10 ----

    Mich State
    TCU
    OK State
    Iowa
    Notre Dame
    Florida

    Top 4 are

    1. Clemson
    2. LSU
    3. Ohio State
    4. Alabama

I think it's a little early to let Alabama crash the final four. I think we need to have Baylor/TCU round out that spot until they play each other. I do think with Alabama playing LSU soon it should sort itself out. Weird to see Clemson on top.

Florida has done well this year. They started out at 68 and moved up to 8. They are now 10 but their loss to LSU was close and they will most likely play again for the SEC title.

Yes, very surprised about Alabama. Really don't get it at all. They have one win over a top 25 team (A&M is now ranked #25 in the AP -- woohoo!!). Their one loss was to Ole Miss (at home no less), who is now 7-2 and ranked #19 in the AP.

Their last win was a close one over Tennessee - who has a 4-4 record. Their two other SEC wins are UGA (4-4) and Arkansas (4-4). Their three nonconference wins are UL-Monroe (1-7) , Middle Tennessee State (3-5) and Wisconsin (7-2) --- all three being at home.

Bottom line, don't see how they get there -- especially ahead of the undefeated teams --- Baylor, TCU, Michigan State -- even OK State or Iowa.

In any event, it will work itself out as these teams start to play each other in the next few weeks.

Being undefeated does not always reflect the strength of the team very well. Who did the undefeated teams actually play?

BTW, I would put your Gators ahead of Bama as well.

Good point. Here are a few ---

Baylor with wins over Texas Tech, Iowa State, West Virginia & Kansas
TCU with wins over Minnesota, Texas, Iowa State, West Virginia and Texas Tech
Michigan State with wins over Oregon and Michigan

Personally, I don't see the Bama schedule being that much more difficult. Like I said, it should work itself out.

Baylor schedule is weak as it gets. TCU only played two worth while teams of any significance. Playing any SEC team is always a tough gig.

Baylor, Oklahoma State and TCU all still have to play each other. If one of those teams runs the table they are going to get a nod for the playoffs and their schedule is not going to be a liability. I think Clemson actually has the weaker schedule compared to the Big 12. Texas Tech is dangerous as well. Alabama is going to have to start rooting for Ole Miss to lose or they won't even be in the SEC title game.

The whole concept of the SEC being light years ahead of the field has already proven faulty as indicated in last years bowl games and rivalry game against outside of conference play. Memphis already beat Ole Miss this year and Arkansas was crying about schedule right before losing to Toledo. I think the SEC is probably the best conference but the SEC fan mindset that no one else deserves a shot because they don't play in the SEC is misguided.

Listen to the Paul Finebaum show some time. It won't take long to find out who.

Good point. With 14 teams, some of them are bound to be really good. But let's not forget who else is in the SEC -- Kentucky, Vandy, South Carolina, Arkansas, Mizzou, Auburn, etc. Not quite the conference it was.

Huge road win on the road against one of the few Big 12 teams that can play defense in Kansas State. Baylor's true freshman QB gets a tough assignment for his first collegiate start but throws for 419 yards and three touchdowns. Baylor's defense really struggles against the run and I think TCU is going to be a handful. I think TCU will in a shootout against Baylor.

There's always that one weekend a year where things get nuts. Oklahoma State smoked TCU which makes things interesting for the Cowboys. Ole Miss really missed a chance to wrap up the game late but had a costly penalty and a wacky 4th and 25 miracle play from the Razorbacks bite them. This opens the door for Alabama to control their own destiny. Clemson got past their toughest challenge today against FSU. The big one between LSU and Alabama tonight is going to be the most important game of the season and those in the hunt will all feel the ramifications of this one.
