Tornado Strikes London!

We get approx. 40 a year but they very rarely hit populated areas.

Last year "Birmingham came face to face with a tornado measuring three or four on the scale and experienced 130mph winds and devastating damage to homes and businesses. "

Wow . . . never woulda thought of tornados there.

We even have them a few times a year here - to be honest it seems, without any research, that it never happened 10-12 years ago, but we hear about them more now.

Maybe just more areas are populated now.

 

It said on the news last week that mile for mile, the UK has more tornados than any other country in the world. But of course, they are not of the same magnitude that America has

 

One hit within 12 miles of me
on 3 May 1995. I live by the Severe Storms Lab of the NOAA of
the USofA Federal Government. They figure out how to track & predict
& warn about tornados. That one on 3 May 1995 clocked a wind
speed of 316MPH, the highest wind speed measured on the
planet. The Tornado ripped sod off the ground for over 20 miles
(at maximum it was a solid 1/4 mile wide - the sod stripping).
The pictures next morning showed a tan stripe across the
Moore, Del City, Midwest City areas of central Oklahomal.
The tan stripe was where the grass was sucked out of the ground
by the inside of the tornado - the tornado with 316MPH rotating
winds. In the path also most houses were stripped off their
concrete foundation (mobile homes were just gone). Everything living
above ground in that area died: people, pets, gofers.

 

Imagine how Job, Ezekiel and others felt when God SPOKE to them out of a whirlwind... it would get my attention!

 

Here is a photo of one house hit by the tornado. Reminds me of the bombing during the war...portions of houses destroyed and the remainder left standing, and even teacups left on a table.
