Have any of you ever handed out tracts? Before I was saved someone left one on my car and it planted a seed that later led to my accepting Jesus. Praise God for that person!! [IMG] Susanpet, VA

Yes. It bothers me when I see them thrown down or trashed right after I give them, but it's a blessing to see someone put one in their pocket,or begin reading when I give tract to them. Ray Comfort has some good ones. Look at his website. I think he has some suggestions on giving them too.
By the way, did you know that passing out tracts is not 'soliciting'? If anyone stops you from passing them out because of a 'no soliciting' sign, ask them to look up definition. [IMG]

It's funny. I don't remember seeing tracts before I was saved. But once the Lord rescued me, my pastor was the first one to place one in my hands. He taught me to memorize Scripture from them, and used them to help me understand the Gospel message more clearly.
From that time on I was hooked! We still use them, and even have written a few.
Praise God for the opportunity to spread His Good News through the written word--only the Lord knows how He will use them. I've even heard of the Lord using thrown away tracts...janitors finding them in garbage cans & being touched by the message, etc.
Keep on getting the Truth out!

The tracts I am most familiar with are Chick tracts. They have a website, www.chick.com. I have ordered these tracts and I love to read them before I give them out. Check out their website!! ;)

I love tracts. One of my colleagues when teaching at Pillsbury BBC in Minnesota was won because of a tract put in a utility bill envelope. His wife was working for NSP and opened the bill as part of her job; read it, got saved. Her parents also then got saved and are missionaries in India.

I really DISLIKE chick tracts. Personal opinion. Most are filled with half-truths that only hurt my witness. Their cartoons are gross and I have found them ineffective.

Jack Chick has an agenda - he is KJVonly and rabidly anti-catholic. Both biases taint the tracts. Sad.

American Tract Society has a wonderful selection and everyone can find SOME tract that they feel comfortable giving with a tip in a restaurant, with bills paid, etc. I am 100% for it.

While living in Japan for three years with the USAF, my family ran the tract ministry. It was a wonderful experience. We were able to take our children with us and show them about spreading God's word. Since none of us could speak Japanese this was a great way for us to share the Gospel with the people there. There were many people who called and visited our Japanese missionary church after reading the tracts. Because of the population there it was nothing for us to pass out 1,000 tracts in 2 hours. Every year the Base would open up the gates for what we call "friendship day". In one day we passed out 15,000 tracts and what a blessing. God's word was the outstanding characteristic of these tracts and that's all that is necessary for salvation.

While living in Turkey the biggest way that you can get the Gospel out is to spread Turkish and English tracts around. Most Turks like to practice their englishso they like to read what you give them. I left a lot of tracts on Tables and in bathrooms while there.

I believe that if they are bathed in prayer before they are passed out that the holy spirit will us them for God's glory.

An interesting thing that we saw in Japan was that on the Sundays after we spent all morning Saturday passing out tracts to the Japanese, we always saw several visitors to our English speaking Church. I don't believe in chance or coincidence so I believe taht it was God's reward to us for being odiedent.

With that all said, we need to be careful that we don't hide behind tracts and never witness to anyone face to face.

Could you please explain what is wrong with using the KJV of the bible as the main source of study and worship? That's the only one I use and will ever use.
Also, I have never found any false teachings in the Chick tracts. Could you give examples please. [IMG]

I like their website (Chick) where it states
"Most Christians want to witness but never do...with Chick tracts it so easy you'll enjoy it!"

It's a shame Chick Tracts didn't exist during the early persecutions huh?

I will admit, Chick Tracts got me through many an evening service when I was a youngster, but they are quite anti- alot of things and negative witnessing is weak.
Also to be honest, the truths of God and man's condition shouldn't be boiled down to 12 pages of picture only stories.

If exposing false teaching using the Word of God is wrong then don't use Chick Tracts. Especially if you believe the bible is a feather to tickle the ear of an unbeliever so they can feel comfortable in their false belief's sending them straight to hell.

I can do without that kind of love and so can my wife that came out of Roman Catholicism when the truth was exposed to here via the AV KJV 1611.

However if you really love someone and believe Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of
the heart." and 2 Ti 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

Then you will pickup a good Bible Preaching, Bible Teaching, Sin exposing, Satan Slamming tract and pass it out. http://www.chick.com is a good place to find these tracts.

We use them for our childrens ministry and they LOVE them.

Jack Chick is a hateful, bitter little man. How anyone can take him seriously, I have no idea. His tracts look like something that came from landoverbaptist.org.

You're telling me that the only way he can spread the gospel is by mischaracterizing Catholics and gays?

Sounds like a weak gospel to me.

About 2 years back my wife and I using some of the Material found at Chick were able to lead a lost jesuit to the Lord. The Word of God exposed the lies to him and now he is going to heaven. PRAISE THE LORD.

It was actually in a Christian Chat and he had a lot of the same views and vents as you Smoke_Screen saying we hate Catholics etc. You are definitely on our list to pray for salvation. God's power is amazing.

This jesuit priest hated me so much he publicly said in the chat that he wished he could break both my legs. Then one day he went to our website and read an article called the 62 primary errors of Roman Catholicism. It compared the Roman Catechism with the Word of God and realized he had been lied to. (We got the article from a track provided by Chick.) He came on the chat and publicly apologized to us. I was so amazed and thankful that the Lord showed us His power this way.

I am going to find that tract/article and put it back up now that I remembered this miracle.

Consider this paragraph from Chick's website:

"We hold that the Bible, the Holy Word of a Holy God, was not only free from error in the originals (which have been lost for centuries) but also we believe God in His Singular providential care has KEPT HIS WORD all through the ages..."

    So far, so good.

"...right down to the present day as found in the King James Version."

So this clown thinks God "kept his word all through the ages," then he contradicts himself by saying He stopped keeping it after the early 17th century. "All through the ages" does continue for almost 4 more centuries up to now, and we don't know for how much longer.

Why do you assume I'm not saved? Actually, I've been a Christian since 1990.

Before you pray for me to be saved, I think you'd be better off praying for God to change your judgemental attitude.

One of the things I've noticed about Chick tracts over the years is that the people who use them tend to be quite pharisaical.

Some of Chick tracts are simply untruthful or so biased that the truth in them is hard to see (ie. on bible versions, on catholicism, on halloween, on other subjects as well). If you choose to believe the lies that they teach, you have been duped. I feel only pity.

We all have opinions. You asked for mine.

I praise the Lord for Chick tracts, & spread his word by passing them out.

Also, I would like to see some proof about what people are saying about these tracts being hateful & biased. I respect people's opinions about them, but not the name calling, & questioning their motives, without offering some concrete proof.

Sounds like you're the one who has been duped, Dr. Bob. I thank the Lord for people who are willing to expose false religions and counterfeit Bible versions.

I was saved a short time after reading the Chick tract called, "Are Roman Catholics Christians?" I wasn't Catholic, but grew up going to a Lutheran church. That tract made me do some searching for myself to find out the truth. Lutherans teach a false gospel just like the Catholics. I should ask Brother Jack to write a tract called, "Are Lutherans Christians?" or maybe even, "Are Those Who Hate Chick Tracts Christians?" :D

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

There is an excellent website for tracts.
I have ordered numerous tracts from this website, and I love them! People love to read them because they are so creative, yet they speak the truth.
Please check this site out....let me know what you think.

I thought the subject was TRACTS; not just feelings about Jack Chick.
So, in an effort to be helpful & edifying, here are the addresses to 3 tract companies that do a good job of presenting the Gospel clearly, at different levels for different people, and generally have fairly eye-appealing covers:
    1. Moments with the Book
    PO Box 322
    Bedford, PA 15522
    2. Chapel Library
    2603 West Wright Street
    Pensacola, FL 32505
    3. The Tract League
    Grand Rapids, MI 49544-1390
One other thought: if you have a Publisher in your computer system, make your own! We've made a couple of tracts & passed them out. They were eye-catching, presented the Gospel clearly, simply, and had the name of our church on the back...and only cost the paper & ink it took to produce them.
    Food for thought! :D
PS: I checked out the Ray Comfort site...they DO have some great tracts! Thanks!
    ;)

Concerning the matter that Chick tracts promote the KJV; what's wrong with that!! I have read many versions but I got rid of them because they add or take away words from the bible. We are told NOT to add or take away words from the Holy Bible. I can't list any examples now because I don't have any versions besides the KJV.
As for as Chick tracts being anti-this& that, what does God say about the subject? We are not to pray to Mary. The only way to the Father is thru and by Jesus Christ!! He alone is our mediator. As far as priests are concerned: we are told in the bible to call no one Father, only our heavenly Father. And another thing while I'm at it, priests CANNOT forgive our sins[ at confession ].
As for Chick tracts being anti-gay, all I can say is, 'PRAISE THE LORD', that someone has the guts to speak out against homosexuality.
We as Christians need to stop hiding under a bushel and tell a lost and dying world that sin will take you farther than you want to go! There is a Hell and people need to realize that it's not one long party where you'll live it up with all your pals. I appreciate Jack Chick warning people about this awful place. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to go there. ;)
