Disgusting.
Sanford, Fla. (CBS TAMPA) – Replacing the online photo trends of “planking” and “Tebowing,” a wave of “Trayvoning” photos make light of Trayvon Martin’s death following the acquittal of George Zimmerman.
The photos show people as they lie face down on the ground next to a can of iced tea and a bag of Skittles – the items found alongside the body of Trayvon after the shooting. A photo of his dead body was mistakenly aired on live TV by MSNBC and HLN during coverage of the Zimmerman trial.
The “Trayvoning” trend of photos is the most recent in a series of viral images passed around social media.
Previously, “planking” encouraged people to produce photographs of themselves face down with stiffened arms and legs in ridiculous locations, and Tebowers entertained viewers by getting down on one knee and praying in public places in mock homage to NFL player Tim Tebow.
The Trayvoning images have appeared on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr but have angered many in the online community.
