Its been awhile since a thread has been discussed concerning Trinity College of the Bible and Seminary. What are your thoughts concerning the school, and its programs?

For starters, and this goes for ANY school website, any of the images on the pages of students or buildings should be of ACTUAL people or buildings of the school. Anything else is misleading.

I'm surprised they are still in business, given their notoriety over past accreditation (U-o-Liverpool, then Canterbury CCU, Wales, etc). It is currently seeking accreditation with DETC, and that might improve things some (it already has dropped several programs, such as their PhD and Doctor of Religion, in order to comply).

You'll find good grads from there and bad ones, just like you would at Harvard or SBTS.

That said, they should've done better quality control earlier on.

Seminaries aren't "one size fits all." I would not want a man who did all his work from here, but a person who did a doctorate from here shouild be evaluated on his or her merits.

Thank you, Tom!! TTS was a pioneer in the University-Without-Walls program in the 1970's. They continually have strengthened and broadened their course structure and has good benefits.

It is far above a "degre mill" on-line school (know of one where you write a couple of 20 page papers and "urn" a doctorate). It is sub-standard to some of the brick-and-mortar schools that also run external programs.

Would advise anyone to attend a high-quality accredited Baptist college for a BA undergrad. Classroom involvement and "bull-sessions" discussing issues and topics are a great part of education that is missing from cyber schooling.

Would advise likewise at least a MA from a high-quality accredited Baptist seminary with LANGUAGE requirements in Greek/Hebrew. Again, almost impossible for on-line to match this.

But an Ed Specialist, EdD, DMin for a well-seasoned pastor from a place like Trinity is a good thing. I have one so I'm only a tad biased!!

Thank you for your thoughts. I am comparing and considering two different doctoral programs. One is a Ph.D. program that is regionally accredited, and the other is Ed.D at Trinity. I've heard mixed reviews about Trinity and their accreditation has been an issue for quite some time and that concerns me.

Complete a Ed.D at Liberty University or anther regionally accredited school. Sure, it might be more expensive, and more difficult, but in the long run it will pay off much better than a degree from Trinity.

Cost is a real issue. However, Trinity is not real cheap either. I will likely go the Ph.D. route, but wanted to put Trinity into consideration.

I've found if the degree isn't regionally accredited it's almost worthless. I wasted time at Trinity College of the Bible because about 5 years ago they were touting that they were seeking regional accreditation. Well they have since removed any reference to that off their site, and never told anyone they stopped or got rejected (not sure which happened). As far as I know, they aren't even US Department of Education (Nationally) Accredited right now. The problem with Trinity is even if they got their regional accreditation they have seemed to have developed a really bad name that would be difficult to overcome.

I would agree with Martin look for a regionally accredited school. I've taken classes at a couple of universities that offered online classes and would say if your looking for a good online school I would recommend looking into Liberty. Though Doctoral programs at Liberty are blended intensives, so you'd actually have to go up to Liberty at some point.
