In my understanding;
We are born with a spirit of rebellion against God, that needs to be replaced with the spirit of obedience, to be spiritually born again of the Spirit of God.
We are born with a corruptible body, which includes the human brain, that needs to be replaced with an incorruptible body.
We are born with a soul, precious to God, which is our constant identity and is that which is struggled over. Satan desires to destroy it and the Lord seeks to save it.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and and sharper than any twoedged sword, PIERCING EVEN TO THE DIVIDING ASUNDER OF SOUL AND SPIRIT, and of the joints and marrow, and IS A DISCERNER OF THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTS OF THE HEART.
Because the word of God discerns from our soul it's intent. The spirit of rebellion is severed off and we are born again into Christ, through the Holy Spirit, which is the spirit of obedience and truth.
John 4:23-24 23) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in SPIRIT and in truth: for the Father SEEKETH such to worship him. 24) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him Must worship him in Spirit and in Truth.
Thus the absolute need of man to have the spirit of rebellion severed away, dividing ASUNDER, so that we can be born again of the Spirit.
John 3:3-6. 3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4) Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter in the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water And of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
So I have no doubt that there is a spirit of rebellion that must be severed from attachment to our soul. So that we may receive the Spirit of God which is of obedience and Truth.
