Meanwhile, Congressional democrats are doing everything they can to be sure that Baghdad never becomes secure, and that the re-enforcement of our military forces is not effective.

Democrats are investing in the strategy of making sure we lose.

Have the troops been surged yet?

17 Republicans voted for the non-binding resolution and 2 Democrats voted against it.

Certainly. Part of their re-enforcements have arrived and operations have begun to secure Baghdad.

So far, the operations appear to have met with great success.

It's too soon to tell if there is a difference being made.

If you don't think so, just read it from someone currently in the military..

“I would say that it is way too early to establish any trends,” said Lt. Col. Chris Garver, a U.S. military spokesman. “We’ve just started to focus our operations. We have months to go to see if we are going to succeed or not.”

Added Maj. Gen. Joseph Fil, commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad, “There’s no question about it, that many of these extremists are laying low and watching to see what it is we do and how we do it. How long that will last, we don’t know.”
The contrasting outlooks cut across the entire mission, dubbed Operation Law and Order, which seeks to reclaim the streets. Powerful militias and freelance vigilantes have carved Baghdad into fiefdoms and made even daily errands a gamble that could end with a car bombing or gunfire.

Well, let's hope Bush & Co. finally get it right.

It's waaaay overdue. Pray that they don't mess this one up, too.

At least Galatian, even though he is a critic of GW, is willing to give our president the benefit of the doubt. Others of you are writing the troop surge off even before it was given a chance.

As I said, pray that it works. On that we can all agree. I'm aware of people inside and outside the military who are skpetical. But let's see how it turns out.

Maybe so. But wouldn't it be nice if they had their own Rumsfeld, and made it easy for us, this time?

If I am one of the "others" then I haven't "written anyone" off. I just posted an article where someone from the military stated it was too soon to see results from the "surge".

Also, Over the last six years GWB has had plenty of chances to get it right.. without results in my opinion He is done with my chances, you continue to give them to him.

And another thing! Just because I don't believe in this war, or believe that GWB will get us out of it, doesn't mean I have any LESS support for our troops! The two DO NOT go hand in hand.

There is no support for troops without supporting their mission.

That is your opinion, not mine. You support the troops that way you see fit, and I will support them the way I see fit. The two do not have to be the same for Troop Support.

A person can support the troops without believing in the reason we are at war. To think otherwise is just a reason to make the people that don't support this war feel like their making a wrong choice.

Remember, our troops are not ONLY in Iraq.

That is not the point. You can disagree totally with the war but to support the troops, you must support the mission once the battle is joined.

It seems liberals just can't tell the difference.:BangHead:

Carpro is onflating a war and a battle here. For obvious reasons. Or many not. It's possible that he just can't tell the difference.

What seems to have youi upset is that they can tell the difference.

Only faith in God will get us through this . . .

Not might. Not steel. Not firepower.

Only God Himself can protect us from the evil.

In that case you should be in favor of withdrawing the troops as soon as possible, like I am!

Unlike you - I have always been against this war.

Unlike you - I know that this is a no win war.

Unlike you - I know that we can fight them there, we can fight them here, or we can fight them in both places:

But, they are gonna fight us (Osama started saying that in 1990, and it has been true ever since).

Do you just make things up out of thin air?

What makes you think I have ever been in favor of the war in Iraq?
