    Yes Hurricane Season...AGAIN

Yea, we have hurricanes and tropical storms every year here along the coast. Some of them are strong, some weak, some severe (I have lived through them all). Maybe someone should inform the media of this since they seem to think hurricanes are a new thing..

    O And One More Thing

O, and just one more word of wisdom (to the media, or those who maybe new to the coast)...

when the local governments say to "leave this area" (ie...evacuate)...DO IT! Don't sit around and wait for big papa government to save you after you refused to obey common sense. O and if you do choose to ignore the evacuation warnings be sure to know that it always takes the federal government (etc) a few days to get to you. So I don't care if you have to walk, when they say leave you leave. Period, end of story.

All day yesterday, meteorologists on different TV stations kept saying that Tropical Storm Alberto won't become a hurricane because the water was too cold. Now there are Hurricane Warnings for Florida. Looks like this is going to be a very interesting year for hurricanes again.

Yes, it is so much safer to walk than find the designated storm shelter. Face facts, some be people are NOT ABLE to leave. Common sense would be to evacuate, if you have the means, and are physically able, otherwise common sense dictates that you take your supplies and hole up in the designated storm shelter.

As for the media around here hurricane season is not being treated any differently than it is any other hurricane season. The national news media is jumping on the bandwagon because we have had two devastating hurricane seasons in a row. Some people here in Central florida are still recovering from Charley, Ivan, Jeanne, and Francis in 2004.

    crying wolf

==No excuse. In New Orleans many of the people who stayed could have left if they wanted to. The fact is that the media have cried wolf with hurricanes (etc) for so long that people no longer take these warnings (etc) seriously. And yes it is safer to walk away from the city (etc) than to say in a "designated storm shelter" (that will have no air or power) in the city which is in the direct path of the storm. Get out of the path of the storm, period. Those in hospitals (etc) have to trust that the administrators (etc) have enough common sense (and planning) to get them to a safe location.

==Just like many in North Carolina are still dealing with Floyd.
