Fair? Not enough? Too much?

The DOJ agreed to a $5 million settlement to Ashli Babbitt's family over her shooting during the Capitol Riot, sparking reactions from law enforcement.

A needless death arising from opposing law enforcement officers. We put our faith in our Law Enforcement Officers, knowing that sometimes their actions are not the best, but accepting that flaw in order to empower them to risk their lives to defend others.

With today's money value, I think 5 million is about the right amount to compensate the family for the needless loss of their family member. It is easy to point to other solutions with 20/20 hindsight (tasers or bean bags) but having dealt with the unexpected in real time, where we do our best which turns out not so good, I will support that officer completely.
