Trump Delegate Says US Government Leaders May Need to Be Killed

Last December, Donald Trump's presidential campaign approved David Riden to be a delegate candidate on the Tennessee ballot, and when the state held its primary in March, voters selected Riden to go to the Republican National Convention. When Riden represents Trump there in July, it will not be his first time as a delegate to a political gathering. Seven years ago in Illinois he attended the so-called "Continental Congress of 2009," where he and other delegates put forth "Articles of Freedom" that called for abolishing all federal firearms laws, replacing the Department of Homeland Security with citizen militias, and, if necessary, launching an insurrection against the federal government.

Riden explains that his views today go even further than those of the Continental Congress of 2009—his involvement in which he says he explicitly disclosed to the Trump campaign when he applied to be a delegate. Riden told Mother Jones in an interview that US leaders who violate the Constitution may have to be done away with: "The polite word is 'eliminated,'" he said. "The harsh word is 'killed.'"

He said all three branches of the US government are "way off away from the Constitution right now." Americans may need to attack with assault weapons and bombs in the nation's capital and elsewhere.

The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

And Trump supporters say that #Nevertrumpers are traitors.
Add that to the growing list of why Trump supporters scare me way more than a Clinton presidency does.

Absolutely incredible. But you know this type of heated boldness is coming from their leader, that godless man that so many "followers" are supporting.

^Yeah, but somebody here posted from breitbart once so that makes it all okay.

Where to start here? For one, it makes the argument that Trump is a closeted liberal less plausible, since this is an attack on the far right from the far left. The "reporter" didn't show even a transcript, much less a tape, so who knows if this militia member even said all that - I find it hard to believe that a guy like THAT would ever talk to a guy like THIS:

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/05/occupy-wall-street-should-be-left-tea-party

and I bet you Josh here never "reported" on the 2012 delegates that wanted to kill Mitt Romney and all Chrisitans. But can't blame them for trying something to derail Trump and shift the focus off of Hillary's troubles.

Anyway,
The delegate was interviewed by Mother Jones. The delegate admitted these things to their reporters. The delegate told the Trump campaign he harbored these views when he was being interviewed to become one of their delegates. It's a legitimate story. Deal with it, instead of denigrating the source.

No - where's the corroboration? This one reporter claims he said that, where's the proof?

Blindly believe believe this person, no. And denigrating the source is fine if the source is compromised, and he very well could be. Even the MSM can NOT be trusted, I haven't since:

and then there's the more recent Katie Couric edit fiasco. Proof?

No, thanks for trying, but that's not really what I'm looking for - all this is another source linking to MJ.

Riden's views attracted the interest of the national liberal magazine Mother Jones, which published an article on its website Thursday linking him to the murky world of far-right militias and "patriot" groups. Riden did not return repeated calls and emails from the News Sentinel for comment, but the Mother Jones article reported that he discussed his views in an interview with the magazine.

why would some guy like this:

https://www.linkedin.com/in/m-david-riden-88b0804

maybe a kook, but a high enough IQ, ever talk to an OWS reporter? Is this the merge of the far left and the far right? At the very least, this Riden person is anything but establishment:

so the anti-government sentiment is there for sure on both of their parts.

The source is an extremist source that makes MSNBC look conservative. They cannot be trusted and they are the only source who has any knowledge of this claim. And no we do not have to "deal with it" if we choose not to.

How far do a delegates actions reflect on the person he has pledged to vote for?

Should we start going through the jails and prisons, check the criminals voting records, and count it against those they voted for?

According to the article this delegate told the Trump campaign of his radical beliefs and yet they still confirmed him as a delegate. In this instance it's hard to divorce this guy from the Trump campaign.

I am confused. If the state convention, or the national party for superdelegates I guess, says the guy is a delegate, he's a delegate, right? How does a candidate confirm a delegate?

I am confused. If the state convention, or the national party for superdelegates I guess, says the guy is a delegate, he's a delegate, right? How does a candidate confirm a delegate?

Typically what happens is each campaign recruits delegates (or people apply to be delegates) after their state primary is held. These delegate applicants, if approved at the state convention, will to go the national GOP convention and cast a vote for their state for the GOP candidate that won that proportion of the state's votes. So, in this case, Tennessee, there are 33 Trump delegates, 16 Cruz delegates, 9 Rubio delegates.

The vetting process is done before (or during) the state convention. So this guy, who backs Trump, applied to be a delegate to party officials and was approved even though he stated his radical views to the Trump campaign. Therefore, the Trump campaign knew about this guy, but still accepted him as a delegate.
