Trump Foundation Admits to Violating Ban on Self-Dealing

President-elect Donald Trump’s charitable foundation has apparently admitted to the IRS that it violated a legal prohibition against “self-dealing,” which bars nonprofit leaders from using their charity’s money to help themselves, their businesses, or their families.

That admission was contained in the Donald J. Trump Foundation’s IRS tax filings for 2015, which were posted online Monday evening at the nonprofit-tracking site Guidestar. A Guidestar spokesman said the forms were uploaded by the Trump Foundation’s law firm, Morgan, Lewis and Bockius.

In one section of the form, the IRS asked if the Trump Foundation had transferred “income or assets to a disqualified person.” A disqualified person, in this context, might be Trump — the foundation’s president — or a member of his family, or a Trump-owned business.

The foundation checked “yes.”

Another line on the form asked if the Trump Foundation had engaged in any acts of self-dealing in prior years. The Trump Foundation checked “yes” again.

Such violations can carry penalties including excise taxes, and the charity leaders can be required to repay money that the charity spent on their behalf.

During the presidential campaign, the Washington Post reported on several instances in which Trump appeared to use the Trump Foundation’s money to buy items for himself, or to help one of his for-profit businesses.

Trump , fortunately did not take lessons from the Clintons. He readily admitted wrongdoing and will pay whatever penalty is required.

The Clintons will never admit ANYTHING without a legal fight. Ever.

ITL has about 8 years of catching up to Mitch's Obama derangement syndrome. Awfully defensive considering he didn't even vote for Trump.

Stunning hypocrisy.

Trump Derangement Syndrome

At ROTC camp in the late 50's, one of the guys in my platoon was from Miss. &, IIRC, had just become engaged. He told the story of his getting serious w/his girl friend and the jealousy of her much younger sister. He said he was sitting waiting for her to get ready to go out one evening when little sister sat down beside him and VERY intensely told him, "Jim, do you know Stacy SHAVES HER LEGS?" This was supposed to turn off any attraction he had for Stacy, ergo Stacy would not be leaving home.

Same apparent thought (?) process with ITL. ;);)

I understood the pettiness during the campaign to some degree but it has gotten old. Everything Trump does incorrectly or contrary to what we personally want is not the end of the world. The guys hasn't even gotten into office yet. I may have to place a few folks more on ignore I suppose.

Yes, I personally don't want my President to violate the law. If that's "not the end of the world" then I wonder, as Use of Time said, why you were so vocal for the past 8 years on every little thing Obama did?

Sorry, one I have no idea what that person says. Cannot see their posts. Second, I was not 'so vocal on every little thing Obama did". Honestly neither one of you have been here for the last eight years. You have no idea what I have done or posted with regards to Obama for the total span of eight years.

I've been here coming up on 6 years now. I have an just a wee inkling of what you've posted about Obama for that time.

Lack of self awareness level 10.

If only there was a way to see those posts...

Just for fun, lets excoriate Donald the Ducks ancestry......Blood will out!!! :Roflmao
How Donald Trump's tax-dodging migrant grandpa went from cutting hair to building an empire of brothels where customers could pay in gold dust or nuggets
  • Friedrich Drumpf was 16 when he moved to New York in 1885
  • After 6 years as a barber, he went west to set up brothels near the mines
  • Changed his name to the more catchy 'Fred Trump'
  • It made him a fortune offering round-the-clock women, liquor and food
  • He stayed in the US until 1901, tried to take his Gold Rush-era fortune home, was refused repatriation because he dodged taxes and army service
  • So he and his new wife were sent back to New York to start their family
