In a speech at the Petroleum Conference in Bismarck, ND, Donald Trump said that politicians have failed the people trapped in poverty and these politicians have been using the poor for decades, they have been stealing your votes and giving you nothing.

Trump then said, "I will give you everything. I will give you what you've been looking for, for 30, 40, 50 years."

It should be illegal for them to call what he does speech making. He's as vapid and empty as the meaningless nothings that come out of his mouth.

Notice he never tells them what it is they have wanted for 30,40, 50 years.

Of course not. Classic Rush Limbaugh-ism. Suggest something and let the listener fill in the blanks with their own prejudices.

I find it interesting that the talking heads on the right have been saying for years that Democrats buy votes by giving away free stuff to the poor. This board has been full of posts saying this same thing for years. Yet here comes Trump saying that the Democrats have been STEALING their votes and giving them NOTHING, while he will give them everything.

When he says I will give you everything, he is talking about "everything" he has promised. Of which he had also just finished talking about the unemployed. When he said everything he was talking about his promise to create work in this country contrary to the failed promises of the Democrats.

If THEY are the ones who 'want' something, THEY ought to know what. Or with you, do they only want what they are told they want?7

He didn't promise anything specific. He did say "my reform agenda is going to bring wealth and security to the poorest communities in the country. We have to do that. We have to do that." (37:50 on timeline.) Then he talks about unemployment in the minority communities, then he says politicians have failed them, then he says "I will give you everything. They have given you nothing. I will give you what you have been looking...for 30, 40, 50 years. They have given you nothing. And you need something new. I'm the only one who's going to deliver it. [..] I am the only one who will deliver it."

So tell me, what has he promised, specifically? Jobs? He didn't say that.

His lead-in statement was right on target.

The follow-up was a really dumb thing to say. Maybe someday he'll clarify that moment of idiocy.

I agree. His lead up was probably the most coherent and powerful thing he's said on the entire campaign trail, and then he kind of let it hang there and gave a nebulous closing statement.

Since when did Trump become right? .

Right about time the radical right decided that it didn't care about policy or morals and that it was most important that a candidate have an R after their name rather than a D.

Trump said that he has principles and that he doesn't need conservatives. Actually, Trump is a liberal New Yorker.

He doesn't. The political conservatives need him because they are too dumb to realize he doesn't support what they support. So they need him so that they can vote for an R and feel like they are better than the political liberals.

Trump is not a right-winger except to the far left. He is not even a conservative and has said so. He is more like a leftist Democrats. His promises are worthless because his word is worthless.

That does not matter to the radical right. He's got an R after his name so he's better than supporting anyone with a D after his name even if he adheres to the same ideologies.

Trump voters are not radical right--they are a lot of poor Democrats who got poorer under Obama and his lies. However, Trump is not popular with the backbone of the Democrat Party--Jews, blacks and homosexuals. Trump also loses women.

Yeah they are. Who else do you think the radical right is voting?
--they are a lot of poor Democrats who got poorer under Obama and his lies.

If that's the lie that helps you vote for him, go ahead and believe it.
However, Trump is not popular with the backbone of the Democrat Party--Jews, blacks and homosexuals.

If that's the backbone of the Democrat Party, then the backbone of the GOP is the white supremacists, bigots, fellow misogynists, and political conservatives too politically crazy to support anyone but the party nominee.
Trump also loses women.

And Latinos, and dogs, and anyone else with an iota of good sense.

Trump himself is not right--he is like a Democrat on social issues such as pro-hom0sexual and is a Democrat-like playboy.

As far as the radical right is concerned, if he puts an R after his name, he's far enough right for them to vote for him.

The GOP is pro-homosexual too. They just are pro-homosexual in airport bathrooms and underneath their desks with pages.

Same thing with the playboy persona. Plenty in the GOP doing the same thing.

The only thing these folks care about is power. And if getting behind DT can help assuage his feelings and not interfere with them keeping their power, then they'll do it.

That's why abortion is still legal. The folks in DC don't care about that stuff other than for show. The power positioning says keep things just like they are and they do.
