Trump Supporters Shout Down Liberal Speakers, Curtailing Free Speech

Based on a report from FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education), Stanley Kurtz provides what he calls a “man bites dog” story: the shout-down of California Attorney General, Xavier Becerra and California State Assembly Leader Ian Calderon — both liberals – by Pro-Trump, MAGA hat-wearing protesters. This occurred at Whittier College, alma mater of Richard Nixon, where Becerra was trying to explain his decision to sue the Trump administration for phasing out the DACA program.

The disruptors, who apparently were not students, shouted slogans like: “Build that wall,” “lock him up,” “respect our president,” and “American first.” Becerra’s question and answer session with Calderon was severely disturbed and cut short as a result.

Shout-downs of liberals and leftists by those on the right are just as intolerable as the more standard case in which lefty students shout down conservative speakers. They show that in a deeply divided country, curbing free speech for some could easily mean curbing free speech for all.

Turn about is fair play.

Liberals have it coming, especially California liberals.

A dose of their own medicine.

Makes me chuckle.

Define "better".

They weren't rioting, attacking people and destroying property. Just exercising their own freedom of speech.

Now, now. I bet I could trawl back through BB archives and I'm fairly sure I can find examples of people condemning students that shout down conservatives trying to give speeches on campuses. These Trump supporters are not "free" to disrupt an event held on a private college campus. They could have been removed from the premises. Basically they were being disruptive. If we conservatives hold freedom of speech as dear, we shouldn't interrupt someone else exercising that right.

Wow, that was so rude. These weren't students, worse, they were older adults yelling at the guests. Why even attend if all that's going to happen is to be verbally abused by a couple of tards? One of the two instigators uploaded his full video, nasty language for a nasty man:

NOT "awesome"

even trolled the audience, you're not going to win people over to your side by acting insane.

So in order to combat privileged, entitled, whiny snowflakes - we should act like privileged, entitled, whiny snowflakes?

What makes us different?
Who said we had to be different in all areas?

Well of course it was immature and vindictive. Playing nice is keeping the swamp undrained.

This is California. People are fed up everywhere.

Bad behavior excuses bad behavior. Don't we teach our children that?

Every day I see more and more people sacrifice the high ground to protect a man that doesn't deserve it.
