Trump's Children Won't be Voting for Him

Trump's children forgot to register to vote so they can't vote for their dad for President in the New York primary.

“Ivanka and Eric Trump are unable to register because of the rules,” the real estate mogul was told on "Fox & Friends." “Are the rules in New York unfair as well?”

"No. They had a long time to register, and they were unaware of the rules, and they didn't register in time,” Trump responded. "So they feel very, very guilty.

“I think they have to register a year in advance, and they didn't,” he added, “so Eric and Ivanka, I guess, won’t be voting."

BTW, the deadline for registering to vote in New York is March 25th, of 2016, not a year in advance. Maybe Trump should learn the rules?

I thought it was hilarious when I first heard that they could not vote since they did not register in time. I would think that rule 1 of the art of the deal would be knowing the rules of the game. Now I'm not holding my breath for this but an upset in New York would be hysterical as well. Especially when you consider Mr. I never lose, has lost for the last 3 weeks where it really counts.

Yeah, it was pretty funny.

Along with "Mister I Never Lose" there is also "Mister I Surround Myself with the Best People". Well that Mr. screwed up in Colorado.

When trying to get delegates selected at the Colorado state GOP convention, Trump campaign officials misspelled delegate names and assigned incorrect ballot numbers next to their names. Cruz ended up winning all 34 available delegates.

The "best person" that Trump had spearheading the delegate selection process in Colorado was Pamela Gentry, who admitted she had been in politics for only the past 37 days.

So, will Trump pull a "You're Fired" on his children?

I think that this is another of those bits of the incompetence of his people that is starting to come to light.

ITL, I assume you do not live in NY State as I do. Your info is not totally correct.

Specifically, the Trump children ARE registered to vote! The situation is that they are NOT registered with the Republican Party. (NY is a closed primary State)

You are correct that the deadline to register is 25 Mar 16. HOWEVER, in order to CHANGE your political affiliation the deadline was Oct of 2015. (30 days prior to the last general election) The purpose of this law is to ensure that individuals DO NOT go enmass to a different party in order to drastically affect that party's results. (this is a law I totally agree with)

Just a side note: If the Trumps are registered as Democrats - they could still vote in the democratic primary.

ITL, I trust you understand the spirit I post this info.
Since virtually every state/commonwealth has different laws- it can be confusing. FWIW, I have posted this same info several times on different FB pages

Additional FWIT - when I moved to WV - the voting down there drove me nuts until I fully understood it.

And now, waiting on the NY primary results!

Thanks for the clarification. October 15, 2015 was the deadline. Still, Trump was obviously running as a Republican, so the children should have switched their party preference before the deadline.

What makes this story even more hilarious is that Trump's daughter Ivanka, is the face of the "get out the vote" effort of the Trump campaign. She's made several YouTube videos urging people to register to vote and even explaining how to register to vote. Yet, she failed to do so herself. LOL!

She even robo-called my home a few days before the WI Primary to make sure that I was ready to vote for her father. *laugh*

Ivanka Trump, the Face of Dad’s Get Out The Vote Effort, Forgets to Change Registration
Donald Trump’s daughter has mas made calls and videos asking supporters to do what she (and her brother Eric) forgot to do.

Despite spending the last four months lecturing Trump supporters on how to register to vote, Ivanka Trump missed the deadline to register to vote for her dad in New York.

Ivanka’s failure to follow New York’s non-complicated voter registration rules to change her affiliation from independent to Republican (to vote in the closed primary) is remarkable, given that she’s been the public face of her father’s get-out-the-vote efforts.

She made nearly half a dozen campaign videos on the importance of registering to vote. But her family didn’t seem to be paying attention, since her brother Eric also forgot to register.

Interesting that she was registered as an Independent. Didn't her dad announce back last June 2015?o_OShe must have thought it was a joke too.

Absolutely agree!
Not condoning their lack of action - but how often have one of us (and yes - that includes me) did we intend to do something, but before we knew it - the deadline had past. We had good intentions, but....

With that in mind - don't forget that this Friday is April 15 - aka TAX Deadline day

I think it got extended to the 18th or 19th because of filing overlaps and state/federal holidays.

I thought it was because the 15th was on a Friday. Strange how federal income taxes are due as far away as possible from Election Day in November.

I don't put this on Trump, since he really has no control over his grown children and the GOP isn't much of a factor in that state in any event. Might as well, though, Trump and Clinton ftw and by a significant margin.

As far away as possible, by the calendar, would be in May. But April is close enough, and (they hope) time enough to forget.

Trump's Children to Tax Due Day. Irretrievably derailed in thirteen posts. Tough to beat that one.
