Like Predecessor, UN's New Rights Body Targets Israel
    By Patrick Goodenough
    CNSNews.com International Editor

    July 07, 2006
(CNSNews.com) - Following a trend adopted by its discredited predecessor, the U.N.'s new Human Rights Council ended its first-ever "special session" Thursday with a resolution condemning Israel over the crisis in the Gaza Strip.

By a vote of 29-11 with five abstentions, the 47-member body passed a resolution demanding that Israel end its military operations in Gaza, expressing concern about the impact the operation was having on Palestinians' humanitarian situation, urging Israel to release detained Palestinian lawmakers and mandating an urgent visit to the area by a U.N. special rapporteur.

The resolution, introduced by the Arab and Islamic blocs, made no specific reference to the factors that triggered Israel's Operation Spring Rain -- Hamas' kidnapping of an Israeli soldier and the firing by Gaza-based terrorists of rockets into Israeli population centers.

    SNIP

U.N. Watch, a Geneva-based non-governmental organization (NGO), said the resolution passed comprised "a long litany of specific condemnations and demands against Israel but says nothing about the Hamas government's role in the hostage-taking that precipitated the current crisis or in perpetrating deliberate attacks on Israeli civilians."

The group's executive director, Hillel Neuer, said the Arab League's request for the session had been "politically motivated, intended solely to target Israel."

He also criticized a move by the Islamic bloc to suspend debate directly before NGOs were scheduled to speak and commented on "the spectacle of Sudan accusing others of 'war crimes.'"

Neuer said it was regrettable that a majority of council members were "showing contempt for Mr. Annan's urgent plea to leave behind the discredited commission's self-destructive obsession with bashing Israel at the expense of urgent human rights situations affecting millions of victims in Darfur, China, Chechnya and in so many other places across the globe."

Of all the nerve! Everyone knows that Palestinians are not human and must be exterminated.

I think Israel should ignore the UN. They ceased to be relevant a long time ago. If they want to do something about human rights, perhaps they should pass a resolution condemning their own violations in Darfur.

This is the kind of asenine statement that gives your side zero credibility in this here issue. All the Palestinians have to do is stop killing Jews, and there will be peace. It's the Jews that have to fear genocide. Pull yer head out of the lefty blogs and educate yourself on what's actually going on over there.

    Ditto!

And that so-called UN (In)Human Rights Commission itself is a farce when many of the representatives on it are themselves official delegates from countries that have some of the worse human rights records in history.

(Kinda like appointing the big shots at Enron to a committee to police companies accused of defrauding their stockholders--"Do as I say, not as I do!")

Never forget that the 9/11 terrorists did not attack the UN building in NYC--They knew where their friends were!

You may not like Bush all the time, but he's looking pretty good on that Bolton nomination. He will hand this resolution back to them, unsigned, before the ink is dry. That's my bet.

Like the Arabs on the security counsel would do anything else. Arabs sticking up for Arabs and ignoring Hamas. They have no credibility. This is a joke.

    Another quick quiz:

When the IDF forced their own people out of the Gaza Strip last year so that the Palestinians could have it, what did the Palestinians give Israel in return, or even offer to give?

While I do believe that we should remain within the UN as a member, we should leave the UNHRC which includes such stellar judges of human rights performance as Libya and Cuba.

Hey, another quick quiz. Who gets the money from the gas discovered off the Gaza Strip (which was all decided before Israel pulled out of there)?

And yet another: What did the Palestinians in Gaza do with the presents the Israelis left behind for them, which were purchased to help the Palestinians to have an economy and be productive?

Read Genesis 12 and 15. Israel is not an occupying force. The so-called "Palestinians" are squatters on land God gave to Israel. "Palestine" is a misnomer. Until the infamous "Road Map," no such entity existed.* The tribes roaming the region after the Jewish expulsion to Egypt (God's action), were predominantly Edomites.

Israel's failure to recognize their Messiah and their predominantly secular state today, where MOST do not know or fail to understand their heritage, are additional reasons why "God's Chosen" continue in grievous stress, and will continue to do so until the Second Coming and after the Battle of Armageddon. It is only with the 1,000 year reign of Christ that "Israel" will be at peace in their own land. :Fish: :praise:

*The word "Palestine" is what Roman soldiers called the area around Philistia, the home of Goliath. (Ps. 60:8; 87:4; 108:9). The word is translated as "the land of wanderers" or "of strangers.")

I don't see where the children of the bondwoman have any inheritance:
    Gal 4:
22: For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
23: But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
24: Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
25: For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
26: But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
27: For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
28: Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
29: But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
30: Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
31: So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

43: And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
44: And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
45: There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.

    1 KINGS 4:
20: Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.
21: And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.
22: And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,
23: Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.
24: For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.
25: And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.

    REV 2:
    8: And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
9: I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
    REV. 11:2
8: And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Pay close attention to Gal. 3, especially at the end. Have a good day.

1: O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2: This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3: Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
4: Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
5: He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
6: Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7: Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8: And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9: So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10: For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11: But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12: And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15: Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16: Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17: And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18: For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
19: Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20: Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21: Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22: But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23: But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24: Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25: But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26: For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27: For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29: And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
