Twice on Saturday afternoon, the United Negro Colleges Fund advertised for donations and promoted their many Universities and colleges across the nation.
The ads made me wonder why the black, seriously unhappy, students at the University of Missouri stayed at a campus where they felt threatened and bullied because of their ethnicity? If things were that bad for them there, why not transfer to a school that guarantees no prejudice towards them? After all, I am paying for the privilege to attend a certain college, so if I do not like what I find there, I am going to spend my money at a place that deserves my business.
I do not pretend to know how bad the social climate was at U of M, but if I felt unappreciated, unloved, fearful, and concerned that those making the big bucks were white supremacists; I surely would have left that place for a more friendly, understanding environment.
Moi thinks that they had a hidden agenda, and the hiring of Middleton does seem somewhat suspicious.
I'd like to know what some of you think? I realize that there is what we "the principle of the thing" and that should compel us to stand up when we are wronged. Still, I think that this "hissy-fit" will only result in retaliation by those who were the bullies in the first place, and that getting the president fired and a new one who happens to be black, and a past student who just happened to be the founder of a radical black student group while he attended U of M, leaves a bad taste in the hearts and minds of those students who were being declared as racist. That is my opinion, so please respect and don't attack me for my view of this, but rather share what you would have done if you had other options?
