Unexpected (unintended?) Costs of Obamacare

Why the increase? Its part of a new 2.3-percent federal excise tax on certain medical devices that just went into effect. The tax will help fund the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, intended for people, not pets. Manufacturers pay the tax, but a recent survey found more than half plan to pass it along.

WHY IS THIS "UNEXPECTED" OR A SURPRISE? This is exactly what Joe Schmoe on the street--and on Baptist Board--has been predicting since before Obamacare was passed.

My mind is boggled that people are actually surprised by this....

And, the promise was made that those making less than $250,000 would not see an increase in the taxes they pay to the federal government.

That tax will be included in the "cost of goods sold". In order to maintain the same net profit percentage, the cost will have to be passed on to the customer. If the cost of raw materials goes up 2.3% or the cost of power to produce the goods goes up 2.3%, the cost will be passed on.

Just plain old common sense that applies to Acme Auto Detailing down the street or the largest medical device makers in the land. It's some more of the same mis-direction local government uses when it pulls in more money with "fees" rather than "taxes". Either way the government gets fed and my pockets get a little lighter.

Yes, and the two liberal Dem senators from Minnesota that voted for this tax are now backpedaling because of the number of medical device manufacturers located in Minnesota.

We had some small companies here that started complaining in the newspapers when this tax was first publicized. They said that their businesses were already marginal.

I am totally disgusted that we have had these quacks in Congress destroy the finest medical system in the history of the world. Obama is a typical trial lawyer shark. It is amazing how many people in this country think that Cuba has a better medical system than we do--it's not just Jimmy Carter.

That is our problem in this country, it is ok or less it causes problem in my state.

And the Tax Penalty........that want not going to be a tax is what Obama said. When it was decreed a TAX PENALTY Obama didn't have the charter to say no we cannot accept that as a tax.
