Did anybody watch the University of Northern Iowa win over Texas State in San Marcos?

    Wasn't that a great game?

One of the receivers from UNI is a Christian and has an excellent testimony among others plus the fact that he is an excellent student.

It was -17 a few nights ago. During this past week it warmed up to about 10 degrees for most of the week. There were a few days where it got up to about 20.

This is the first time in the history of UNI that they have ever gone to the National Title Game. When I take my family to the games I always appreciate how the team conducts itself.

They are in Division I-AA, where they actually decide things using a PLAYOFF system (something that maybe D1 should try!)

I watched the game and I was sick to my stomach. The TX State coach quit on his team at the end of the 4th quarter, he has three time outs left and plenty of time to get into field goal range (in college ball the clock stops after a first down), but he decides to take a knee and play for overtime. If you don't have any more confidence in your abilities then go get a real job.

If I were the AD he would have been fired today, I don't care if he did get them to the playoffs for the first time in 1-AA.

If Texas State would have won, everyone who say what a great plan the coach had. Lack of playoff experience perhaps was the greater factor. Time and emotion can cloud your judgement in a split-second. Coach brought them this far, give him another chance!

UNI is in Cedar Falls. It is about 12 miles from Waterloo, where John Deere tractor is.

So many of us thought the same thing about the coach at TX State. Even in about 1.5 minutes almost anything could have happened just like what happened when the UNI player fumbled the ball at the 10 yard line and TX ran it in later for a TD. It looked like the game was over then.

Of course the one thing that really ended the game was when Neely threw an interception in overtime.

Many of the locals call UNI a second half team. When they pour it on near the end of a game it is amazing what happens. I was at one game and they were down 14 points and won the game in the last few minutes by 3 points.

The locals here have a lot of respect for Coach Farley and the team. Some of the older professors know him from his student days and speak well of him.

It makes me feel good to know the players and coaches conduct themselves well on the field especially when I take my family to watch the games.

It's unfortunate that Coach Bailiff is going to have to endure flak until next season because of his decisions near the end of this game. There were some real improprieties with the football team with the last head coach, and in 2 years Bailiff has really brought them a long way. I have some inside information about this situation, but I would prefer not to explain it. But at leat 1AA does things right in having a playoff, and at TX St., now adhering to player and coach workload limits, even being the playoffs, there is a lot of potential for success there.
