As would I. It seems pretty clear that they do not want nuclear power as energy (as they continually claim), or they would have accepted this offer on the spot.

I agree that Iran will probably not take the deal. Even if they truly were only interested in nuclear power, which I doubt, this would look like they were giving in to U.S. demands.

If they accept this offer, it could possibly be because they've already been able to enrich uranium. If they start playing nice... we should get worried.

    It is a win-win situation.

If they accept it and just keep it for energy fine. The US gets huge amounts of public approval.

If they reject it then Iran will be looked upon, with out doubt, as the bnd guys.

If they accept it and then use it for weapons it will just accelerate a process already in place and give the valid reason for taking action.

I'm really not as concerned as some are. Iran is a sovereign country and as such has the same rights as other countries have. Until they have actually developed a nuclear weapon and have shown their desire to use it against the U.S. I would not be overly concerned.

Does their stance that Israel won't exist for long worry you, at all ?

Sadly for Israel, the only sort of warning they would probably get would be the smell of exhaust fumes coming from the rocket carrying the warhead.

    MNW,

Terry has been pretty clear that as long as it isn't American life, it doesn't matter to him. Only when it threatens the US should it matter. That's what he has said before, and that's what he said in his last post on teh bottom of page 1.

What you have here is international blackmail similar to what is happening North Korea. "We will build a nuclear bomb," they say, "unless you want to prop up our economy and give us lots of money." It is a great scam ... great for them. We end up payign these guys obscenely to not do what they shouldn't be doing anyway. There is no reason for Iran or North Korea to have nuclear weapons. They have shown that they cannot be trusted with them.

Yes, it does worry me somewhat, in spite of "Pastor" Larry's comment concerning my viewpoints.

I think that Iran knows that they are no match against Israel's military might, and for them to attack Israel would mean that Iran would cease to exist.

Also, my thoughts on this matter are not written in stone. It is very possible that as the situation changes, my viewpoint will change also. For now, however, I don't see this a a major threat like border security and other issues.

I think unless proof is ever provided that Iran is not only interested in nuclear power that we should accept that that is what it is only interested in.

The majority of we Americans allowed the neocons to hoodwink us on Iraq and now we have a debacle that has become a quagmire. We dare not allow them to do the same thing to us on Iran.

I think we need to be careful about being willfully nieve. The head of Iran is such a wonderful gentle man  . Seriously, we better keep our eyes open, this man has made some very extreme statements about the US and Israel. If he wants nuclear power for energy instead of for warheads then I would think he would consider the US proposal. Or could there be some other reason???

    1) I agree. And don't forget about keeping an even closer eye on Washington, D.C.

    2) The last I read Iran is considering it.

Nope. They'll find plenty of allies among the American media and left to help them make Bush look like the bad guy.

You'd think... but considering that so many have condemned Bush for taking action on what was then considered reliable intelligence, I'm not sure any "reason" would be considered "valid" enough for taking action short of them using a nuke.
