Very Sad

I am going to miss Arbo, as he was one of the most stable and civil posters here on BB. From his posts, it is hard to tell why he felt compelled to leave other than he said he had done the work of the Lord some harm. He was one of the few friends I have in this forum.

All I can say, IMO, using the same standard, there are many who should have gone before him.

I Agree!

The class act of Arbo, posting an apology, deserves an applause from me! There have been numerous times that I felt compelled to post a general apology to the board for the times I let emotion get the best of me! Let me note that never did anyone reciprocate with an apology for pushing me to point of losing my civility!

It is my feeling that there are a group of persons on this board who love to antagonize others then sit back and watch them twist in the wind! This is not what I believe Jesus would want for His people, yet; it is being done, and at a more alarming rate than ever before! :tear:

HIs decision to leave is another remainder that those who have made this board a solid place to come, fellowship and share from our hearts seem to be fading into the past, like morality, patriotism, and solid theology built and based upon the Biblical World View of the Gospel and not the world biblical view that many of the newer members seem to be beholden to!

I will miss Arbo, as well as many others who have quietly slipped away.

I, too, have felt like leaving more and more as I read the new-age views and revelations being posted on the board!

Maybe Arbo, like a few other members whom I am still chatting with via Email, just tired of the back-stabbing, name-calling environment that has blossomed here over the last year or so!

I do not take lightly to being called a hypocrite because I hold to the Biblical World View of the Gospel when it comes to many of the topics that new members have defended to the point of pushing buttons with accusations that are totally unwarranted.

It is a shame as what we are witnessing here as of late, but unless someone in the hierarchy of this board gets the guts to remove the name calling folks, who post here only to be rude, start fights and confront with the sole intent to demean, harass and hurt others, the Baptist Board as we once knew it will soon be a ghost town on the cyber range throughout the world of technology!

I do not need the kind of personal stress some of these fire-starters like to cause, but I hang on with hope that time will wash them away and unto another Christian board or forum to cut up and dispatch long time members into forum retirement!

God bless you Arbo, and thanks for your friendship and support over the past six years! :wavey:

He sent me a pm right before he left that will always mean a lot to me. By the way, Paul, you are in that same small group I am talking about.

Not because of which side I am on, but there are two subjects I have grown to despise, Calvinism vs free will, and Bible versions.

Anyway, thanks for your civil posts and interesting threads you start.

He is a lovely man of higher moral & spiritual character, and it bothers me to see him leave...but that is his choice ... God bless him in his walkwith the lord.

I will miss him. He was right about the tone of this board over the last 6-12 months, so I respect his decision. I, too, have given consideration to taking a hiatus from here.

But his absence is sorely felt.

This makes me want to scream. Arbo was a good, level-headed poster. I can think of SEVERAL here who contribute nothing but insults, who seem to enjoy baiting and causing ill-will, who should have gone long ago.

I would like to, once again, STRONGLY suggest the C/A forum be put back so the rest of us who are sick of those debates won't have to stumble upon them at every turn. At least when we had a separate C/A debate forum, the unkindness generated by those threads remained in one place. Now they've taken over the whole board.

Great, just great. One more good poster gone while a bunch of immature grade-school wannabes stay.

It is back up but the problem is the cals do not want to be cornered to that section only for their attempt to turn everything into a calvinism thing. And the bias on the boad is not going to make them.

Briefly scanned over his posts, IMO Cal/Arm animosity had little to do with his departure; it seems there was a handful over on News & Politics (where he posted a lot) that he had friction with.

I really beg to differ with you. I don't know how many times that subject gets raised by Team Jehad ...sometimes just to antagonize. Its amazing that you do not recognize that this situation is not wholely seated with Calvinists but is also antagonized by Non Calvinists as well. Then you blame the administration for being biased in the direction of Calvinists...please spare me.

Agreed. I looked at his posts as far back as May and not one of them was in a C&A thread.

EWF, never let the truth get in the way of fabrications.

By way, I really need a Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese on a hard roll.

Nobody said that's the exact reason why Arbo left. I brought it up because it IS the reason that many folks have left or stopped posting as often. It's an example of where we find an abundance of mean-spirited posts that discourage others from wanting to return.

Several years ago we had a great group here on BB. It seems the "nicer" folks keep getting run off while the harsher ones stay. I'd like to go back to the way it used to be.

Actually, if you count the "Views" you will see the Calvinism/Arminianism debates are far and away the most popular posts to read.

YOU may not like these debates, but many others do.

Other than that, all anybody wants to talk about is drinking.

It's the "New Normal" I am afraid. As things get tougher in the world, they act out in forums where "nobody knows your name" (reverse Cheers Song):tear:

Agreed. I just wanted to see his participation in those threads to see if they may have been a contributing factor.

ARBO stayed clear of C/A threads .... he objected to the general reduction in manners by many. He will be missed, he is a gentleman.

He was on my IGNORE list, but I didn't want him to leave. I stated a long time ago to you guys that I told some other folks that this board is made up of some of the nastiest, "Christian" personalities I've ever encountered. We all need to be swatted on the hand every now and then.

But the poison that's spit at folks just because you disagree with their POV is staggering. If it's not the majority POV, the claws come out and most don't think so because they are in agreement with the majority.

It's real easy to want things to go back to the way they used to be because we get comfortable with no one ever challenging anything we say. And it's really easy to ignore the level of ugliness coming from the majority when you're in agreement with the majority.

Perhaps it's best to treat each other the way we want to be treated?

The bottom line is that he was/is a friend. He did post a lot in the political section, but also posted in theological sections. My point is, if he left because he felt some of his posts hurt the work of the Lord as a witness, how many others should already be gone?
