Virus Help

    Good Evening, I am wondering if I have a virus... my computer I mean.

    Any Word document I open is not fuinctioning properly. If it has graphics the document appears empty. If it is just text most files I have checked look like they have lost their formatting.

    They almost look like Works documents rather than Word.

    Does this sound like any virus you know of?

    Sounds like a Microsoft problem to me.

    I have MS programs change options all the time so maybe check:

    You can open files in a multitude of formats, maybe your default has gotten changed.

    Are you opening them in a template maybe somehow unknown to yourself.


    Maybe your default page settings have gotten changed.

    Have you gotten an update for word or office recently?

    Have you installed some new program recently that might have done something?

    If all else fails and noone has any ideas you might control panel/add remove programs/ find Word and click uninstall and see if there is a repair option - try that.

    All seems okay now. I ran some virus checkers, checked for spyware and adware as a long shot. In the end I rebooted and things seem okay. Must have been old Bill trying to get me annoyed...
