On Tuesday, vote according to your Bilble, folks....make sure that your candidate is pro life and also anti homosexual marriage.

If your state is battling gay marriage amendments, GET OUT AND VOTE!!!

    Thanks

Sometimes we have to use our best judgement.... Not everyone is like that.

That's the sad thing about democracy: even a scumbag might be less of a scumbag than the scumbag he's running against. Whom would you rather have voting on a Supreme Court nominee: a sick twisted freak who parallels James Dobson's politics or a sincere, humble, hardworking and trustworthy Marxist? I'd choose the former, but it's not an easy question.

What do we really have to do with it anyway. It takes 1/2 to Billion dollars to run for the highest office now and who among us will have have an opportunity to even think about it, whether he is a scumbag or not. Seems to me there is more scumbags in the closet than we will ever know. How I do local is to work to get my scumbag in instead of the other persons scumbag then maybe I will get clean water or a new road for I won't need it too long anyway.

What, exactly, in that description would make him someone I would want to vote for?

I didn't realize that Haggard held any political office. Interesting. BTW, how many folks here besides me had no clue who Ted Haggard was before last Thursday?

I'm with you, Joseph, I had never heard of him.

We 'downstaters' wanted a gay marriage amendment on the ballot, but unfortunately, Chicago won again.

Such a shame when something like gay marriage even has to be discussed, let alone needing a law that prohibits it. :tear:

I say don't vote. Or, if you feel that you must vote, make sure you vote for Donald Duck. We can't continue to support the current brand of immoral liars that are in Washington. We need a realistic third party, maybe even a fourth. We need to get these partisan liars out of office. Both democrat and republican.

Beside politics is not how the church will help change society. We change society one heart at a time, one conversion at a time (ie...evangelism). It does no good for us to create a bunch of moral hypocrites who are on their way to an eternal hell (because they have rejected Jesus Christ).

The point is, of course, that people you believe in can surprise you.
Like you, I'd never heard of Haggard.

My Pastor says that "super churches" like the Crystal Cathedral and others always have some CEO type that has major issues at the helm. Almost a
cult type situation.....money has become the paramount issue. I live in Colorado, and until this scandal reared its ugly head, I had never heard of Haggard. Good timing for the election, don't you think? 9 News in Denver is the one who broke the story....I wonder how much homosexual money is behind THAT t.v. station....

==I knew who Haggard was. However I have never been a "fan" of his. He always seemed to be on a political soapbox about so-called family issues. I never heard him discuss Biblical doctrine/theology (etc). However I was shocked to hear that he was involved in drugs and some sort of homosexual behavior. Friday Al Mohler made a good comment about Haggard and pastoral accountablity. He thinks that one of the factors that may have lead to this was a lack of accountablity. He maybe right.

The Illinois governor's race is a choice between bad and bad. :BangHead:

I think the only reason to vote for Topinka is that the vote doesn't go for Blagojevich, but what a terrible reason to vote for somebody.

I never knew who he was either but I am glad he was exposed. Sounds like some would rather it been kept quiet or maybe until after the election and then expose him.
The Lord said there is nothing hidden that shall not be reveiled, so let the work of the Lord continue I say.

    • A large church has unique challenges, but "cult type situation" is an overly broad characterization. Not every large church is "crystal cathedral."
    • "CEO Type"--if that means a money-hungry despot, once again an unfair characterization; if it means someone with managerial skills, then that would stand to reason. A disorganized person couldn't handle a large church.
    • A small IFB church in our area split not too long ago. Money was the key issue. They're not Crystal Cathedral. Money can become an idol irrelevant to size. That's a priority issue.
    • Why don't you retract your "homosexual money" accusation now that Haggard has admitted to it? They ran it because his accuser came out with the details at this time. Did the accuser have ulterior motives? Possibly...but that's not the TV station's problem.

Interesting title to this thread. And if we want to mix in the Bible then Christians will not be at the polls on Tuesday, but rather at home praying for their leaders as that is the only instructions we have and that is the only thing we are supposed to do to involve ourselves in this world system.

We are to be focused on another kingdom . . . a kingdom not of this world. We are merely strangers and pilgrims in this land and we are not to mix ourselves in this world system because it is corrupt and unfixable. It is headed by a rebellious ruler that will one day be put down by the King of kings and the Lord of lords. And until that day comes we are to keep our eyes fixed on Him and His coming kingdom.

Folks if we think "voting" in the right man or woman is going to "fix" anything we need to wake up and drink a cup of reality.

I hope and pray we will all (especially myself) pray more ferventaly for the world leaders.
