Provide affordable health care. Keep the goverment out and just let free enterprise work.

Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) wants to be your low-cost destination for not just food, clothing, and housewares, but also drugs and health care. In the past few months, Wal-Mart has announced it is working with several companies to process and pay their prescription claims. The company is aiming to increase electronic prescriptions at its stores by 400%, to 8 million by yearend. It is introducing walk-in clinics at its superstores to treat minor ailments and is expanding its $4 generic-drugs program. "What our company does best is exactly what the U.S. health-care system needs the most. It needs more affordability. It needs more accessibility. It needs to be more efficient," said H. Lee Scott, chief executive officer of Wal-Mart, in a speech earlier this year.

    Uh, er, well:

I checked my list of Meds taken in my house. Those meds less than $4 a month are on Wal-Mart's list; those meds more than $4 a month are NOT on Wal-Mart's list. Wal-Mart will make a profit on this one! A profit & free publicity -- you can't beat that kind of idea! :saint:

I once was against Nationalised medical care, but our current situation...free market and insurance company thieves...is such a collosal mess that I would be very much in favor of something along the lines of France.

I have heard testimony after testimony after testimony from real life people, not insurance co liars, who say it works wonderfully.

Not perfect...but certainly better than the mess our insurance company thieves have created for their...I mean our...*benefit*.

While this is nice, Wal-Mart will only take the business that is profitable. You won't ever see them getting into long-term care because there is almost no potential for profit there.

Our health care system is the best in the world. And the difficulties with it are found in alot more than insurance companies profits.

I have two grandchildren born in Northern Ireland under the UK health care system.

No cost for pre-natal, hopsital, or post natal care. Free home visits by a nurse for a year. Free health care for mom pre-natal up to a year after birth. Free dental care for the kids through primary school. Not too shabby.

Actually dental care continues all the way up to 18 years if in full time education. That said though, it isn't really "free" as we have to pay for it with our taxes. Still, at least we know that no matter what, we will have access to professional help if and when we are ill.

It's only affordable health care if the patient can pay to go to a doctor to begin with to get that prescription. Many can't even go to a doctor's office.

    Kentucky must really be behind.

Here in Missouri you can walk in to any Dr's office and get seen that day or if you're in a hurry you can just go to any emergency room.

One of the problems in this country is that most people apparently dont think health care is all that important. Let me explain. My company provides three choices of medical plans to choose from. A,B and C. A has a high deductible, B a lower deductible and C a very low deductible which is the most expensive. My company pays half and the employee pays half. I chose the B plan which has a $1000 deductible. It is a very good plan and has saved my wife and I tons of money. Now my point.
I work with guys who can afford to have 25-45 dollars a week come out of their paycheck to supplement their health care costs, but they choose not to! WHY?
Because they have boat payments to make. Car Payments. Liquor to purchase, vacations to go on.
The point is that they have money for everything else but when it comes to their health, they think someone else should pay for it!

If any doctor will see you that day they must not be very busy with very many patients. Unless they spend so little time with a patient.
And just how is a person to pay for this? Doctors do chagre a fee. Health care isn't free. Thsi si what I meant in my post. First you ahve to be able to pay for a doctor and other health care before you get the prescription to take to wal mart.

    Hardsheller...

This is not a Kentucky problem. This is a NATIONAL problem. Do you not read newspapers? Watch news programs?

People all over the country are having life preserving medications suddenly...*poof*...taken away, or the price instantly goes astronomically high, because the bean counters at the insurance company decided to make that decision.

Or someone needs some life saving operation or procedure, but...darn the luck....its not on the list of what the insurance company will cover. And the $8.00 an hour worker doesnt happen to have a virtual wealth of money just sitting in an account somewhere waiting to be used.

I am doing decently financially, and I have pretty good insurance, but it breaks my heart to hear of people...all over this country...who CANT AFFORD TO BE WELL, or who CANT AFFORD LIFE SAVING PROCEDURES, because the insurance companies wont cover it.

This is going on all...over...this...country...its on the news regularly, and the rich dont care. The insurance companies dont care. Nobody cares.
