Was Adam....

We know Adam and Eve were created naked and were not ashamed.

We know Eve was deceived and took of the fruit before Adam, does this mean her eyes were opened when she gave to Adam the fruit that she realized the nakedness, would she have felt shame?

We know also that Adam attempted to cover himself and his wife by sewing together fig leaves, yet when God visited Adam said he was afraid because he was naked.

Does this not prove the uselessness of providing a covering from the will of man as to the effectiveness of covering (atoning) the physical and even the spiritual nakedness of man.

If Adam's fig leaves had been sufficient, then why would he tell God he was afraid because he was naked. He no longer was 'physically' naked was he, so wouldn't this nakedness extend to his very spirit?

Yes, brother Glen, I view the fig leaves as typical of the inability of man's choice to 'cover' as well, note that these fig leaves are necessarily replaced at some point as they 'seem to be alive' yet they are dead and are/will be subject to rottening, thus in constant need of renewal. Note also the "sewing" this constitutes a seam, whereas the garment of righteousness provided by the Grace of God is seamless, typically, at least to me shown in his own garment which the soldiers cast lots over. While all this is physical objects I believe they point to the major distinctions in the salvation from Above and that man attempts to provide as a cloak.

oddly enough, here is where I have heard a great deal about it...I have read it in some of Spurgeon's writings ( Lectures ) to his students; but never thought it wholly necessary to investigate in too great detail, after all we do have the Teacher of Truth with us;

Sometimes I believe big words only complicate an already complicated life.
