Don't know about Lennon. Didn't he once say that The Beatles were "more popular than Jesus"?

As for Tookie Williams, I think I read that he had accepted Christ. He still murdered 4 people and deserved to be executed IMO.

The name "Tookie" is too suspicious.
John Lennon sang to the tune of universalism.
Elvis had hair over his ears.
Bruce Lee tried to save himself.

You know what would be interesting? If we could all hear everyone else discussing ourselves.

    Is Gina L. saved?
Then everyone weighing in and providing evidence.

In fact, I'm going to start a topic on it.

Well since you brought it up, according to the old C/E forum down below in the BB basement:

Jesus didn't believe... (Gina L)

His claim appears to be disengenuous. He never acknowleged his crime, and therefore never demonstrated any repentance or remorse for his actions. As a believer, I'm not permitted to question his salvation, but I question his sincerity regarding any statements he's made regarding matters of faith.

Wouldn't it be better to check on people's salvation that are alive and can still be redeemed?

Tookie died claiming to have done NO wrong. To me thats between him and Christ.

Im sure in his extended stay in the corrections system someone had to have given him the gospel. I hope.

Its too late to dwell on his salvation.

I think Bruce Lee might have been a Buddhist...but I am not sure.

Either way...he was an awesome martial artist.

It's also a matter between him and his victims, and between him and the people of the State of California, whose laws he violated. The fact that he never acknowleged his wrongdoing is evidence that penitence was not in his heart.
Amen! Second only to Jackie Chan, of course !!!

(Johnv, upon cheering because he just heard they're making Rush Hour 3, ducks to avoid the tomatoes)

Jackie is good. But Bruce would have torn him limb from limb I believe.

In regard to Tookie - it is a fact that not all those held behind the walls are guilty of their crimes - many on DR have been executed without due cause. Unless you have seen and weighed the evidence, it is possible that perhaps Tookie was justifiably proclaiming his innocence and thereby did not need to "repent". This is why the death penalty needs to be eradicated. Life in prison would have been enough, and at least he would have been able to continue with his humanitarian efforts and have ample opportunity to receive the Gospel message. God is the Judge, God is the Vindicator, not man.

As far as ample opportunity for the Gospel is concerned, he recieved somewhere around 25 years of ample opportunities to do so. I don't believe he was innocent in the least, nor was he rehabbed, and I believe the only problem with the Death penalty is that it is not administered more often and in a timely manner.

This is not one of those cases. The evidence was more than overwhelming. The nail in the coffin was the fact that a gunshell casing at one of the crime scenes matched his weapon. Another nail was that he described in detail one of the crime scenes, right down to the number of bullets fired into one of the victims, before police even began questioning him.

If that weren't enough, the fact that he attempted to enter a "not guilty by reason of insanity" plea, which is only attempted when a person committed the crime, but claims to have been mentally impaired during the crime's commission.

C'mon folks, Scott Peterson was convicted with evidence less solid than this. I doubt there will be an outcry at his execution, because Peterson is a white guy.

I would have no problem if the death penalty were done away with, but if it's legally permissible, and a valid sentence handed down for a valid crime, then it should be justly implimented.

But the "gotta keep him alive just in case he hasn't heard the Gospel" argument is ridiculous.
Man is the judge of criminal sentences, and God has no problem with that.

Bruce Lee was obviously unsaved, his martial arts methods were too unorthodox and then he sold out to Hollywood.

That was my comment when I saw this thread.

As far as speculation on ourselves and hearing what others think, you don't have to go too far.

There are not a few self righteous Baptists who will quickly tell you that you are not saved if you have not followed the Spirit of Truth into the true baptism.

Too few people look for fruits of the Spirit, but rather at the works of the flesh.

I am beginning to think this is due to an overly emphasized hope toward a 1000 yr. kingdom being established from the throne of David, which hope has changed the blessed hope of the church, which is for the appearing of our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ.

If in this world only we have hope, then we are of ALL men MOST MISERABLE.
