Leif Eriksson was the first European to land on North America, in what's now Canada. The next was John Cabot, an Italian sailing on behalf of Britain. The first to venture into what's now the USA was the Spaniard Juan Ponce De Leon, lanfing near where St. Augustine, Fl. now is, shortly followed by other Spanish landing in what's now California..

The first to land in what's now Alaska was the Dane Vitus Bering, leading a Russian expedition, who found what's now the Bering Strait C. 1741.

The first European to land in Hawaii was the British Capt. James Cook in 1778. He landed in Waimea Bay, of surfers' fame.

Of anyone beat Erikson, it would have been Polynesians from the east, not Europeans or Africans.

As far as the article, they lost me at black Egyptians.

SO Even the first native Americans apparently migrated here across the Bering Straight.

We all started off in EDEN, so we are all immigrants:)

My European ancestors discovered America around 1900.

Maybe, but he was "wiped out" by the Hawaiians in 1779 for attempting to kidnap their king.

Yes, polio, TB, measles, & chicken pox decimated their population. While the first 2 are serious for anyone, the last 2 are usually not serious for people of European descent, but often deadly for those who don't have some resistance to them from generations of exposure. Such was the case for native Hawaiians. (and American Indians)

Columbus was the first to discover America, and tell people about it.

While others probably did "discover" America, when Colombus came and returned, it stayed discovered.
