North Korea Detonates Most Powerful Nuclear Weapon Yet

NOKO now claims to have the most powerful nuke ever, and it can be sized to fit atop an ICBM pointed at the USA. Is Kim Jong Un pushing South Korea, Japan and the US to the brink of nuclear war? Or, is this mere saber rattling, or should I say, empty bomb casings clanging together in order to keep everyone on the edge of their seats?

My question is this: Should we do as Israel, and take a preemptive strike at NoKo? Or should we wait and see what this little man with the weird hair cut does?

It is hard to tell with them, honestly. I mean, the country claims that their leader is amazingly smart, tall, and all kinds of things that are blatant lies. However, they reported having a thermonuclear bomb. Well, in the Korean language that's what it said. In English, they said they had an H-Bomb. In this case, I think it's like when someone points a gun at you and threatens to shoot you. You have to assume the gun is loaded. Err on the side of safety.

While I extremely dislike the idea of a preemptive strike, shooting a nuke out of the sky can have just as devastating of an effect as letting it hit the ground. We really can't afford to take a "wait and see" attitude. In my opinion, as much as I do NOT want to get the US involved in yet another war, we need to strike now. Hit them fast, hit them hard, and be done with it in a few days. Send in the SEALs to take out KJU, then send in ground forces to clean up the chaos.

Then, rather than try to rebuild the country as we tried to do in Afghanistan and Iraq, we let South Korea step in and let the entire island be one unified Korea. Keep a military presence as we have now, but do not interfere at all if possible; as little as possible if not.

Agreed. They have an H-bomb, they have the missiles to deliver it at least to Japan, and there is a clear escalation in their conduct.

I understand that the arming and detonation of a nuke is a very complex process. If all the sequences are not followed, there is no fusion/fission. An interruption-- in flight destruction-- would not create a nuclear airburst. There is also a major problem getting near a target after a long trajectory. The biggest concern is interception of such weapons 100% of the time. Patriot missiles do pretty good with SCUDS, but not 100%. KJU has more than SCUDS. (Where is he getting this stuff?) Beijing and Moscow?

We need to get Mr. KJU a lethal dose of kimchi--just in case this is not all arms race and rattling of sabers. It is long past time to call his bluff.

Sadly, we do not have a good track record of dealing with whacko dictators. We captured and incarcerated M. Noriega and we still have a drug epidemic. This is probably a greater threat than KJU figuring out how to get an operational nuke on the end of his rocket.

Underground nuke tests and ICBMs do not equal a long-range nuclear threat capability.
