Our water is out, the whole system is shut down, no one has water, more then 10,00 homes NO WATER!
Robert and Pam now have electric, but no water, my other son Tony, a different water district, but still no electric they're staying elsewhere.
All we've got left is mom's! And I can't get her on the phone, her phone was working this morning.
So we're currently packing up to go to mom's.
The water co told me 3 or 4 days, they told Pam maybe Thursday or friday. Who knows. They're going to try to stay home, but everyone needs baths since they had no electric and couldn't bathe yesterday. Her mother has no water. They really have no where else to go.

I hate this. It's been many years since we had to abandon our home. Back when all we had was one wood heating stove and the house froze and our kids were babies. And we had to do it almost every winter.
I thought those days were gone. I am highly disturbed. I am leaving my house.
ok, now I'm done, I can go and finish packing up the car.

Oh Donna, that's awful. If you haven't left yet, pm me. I have relatives who live near your area who may be able to help. So far they have electric and water.

Oh Donna, I feel for you. We were without water about 18 months ago so I have an idea of what you are going through. I hope it is soon fixed and re-connected.

    Blessings

I remember during and after Hurrican Katrina hit in Mississippi-------all electric "grids" were down-----no electric=no water

    No water for 5 days

we did have access to bottled water, though

and a pond-------so we gathered up water from the pond to flush toilets---"No drinkey pond water, Pilgrim!!!"

The electric company made reconnecting electric to county water main pumps a priorty and after 5 days we had water-----but no electric---------5 days without a bath---mercy---that cold shower never felt better!!!----we had to boil the restored county water 3 minutes before drinking it, though

We're praying for folks in your area, Sister DonnA

I heard on the news this morning that there were over a million homes without water and electricity, but I didn't catch where it was. Now I know!

Praying you can get back to your home soon and you get to have nice visit with your mom while you're there.

    Ok, update.
they got generators at the water plant last night and are pumpint the aready treated water in the tanks and mane, they can not currently treat more water. So we have some water, low pressure, and are under a boil water advisory, not to mention conserving water. At least another 48 hours until they get electric, so if the water runs out, it's gone, no water. We stayed at mom's last night and came home tonight, I stopped at Save a Lot and bought 6 gallons of water, and have a few bottles here. So we think we will get through the weekend wthout having to boil water. I did find out today the boil and conserving is 5 counties, so we couldn't get water from anyone else, even the next county where mom is.
So for the time being we're ok, and at home. But now, theres nowhere else left to go if the water runs out.

Sue, thats in Ky you heard on the news.
and they beleive we're getting another winter storm next week, but no word yet if it included ice.

I forgot to add that all business that prepare and service food to the public have been ordered closed until the water boil has ended. So if you ahve no electric you can't even go to a resturant.

Look on the good side. You don't have to trouble about the water freezing!

We could always ship some snow down your way for melting. We have done that before when the well pipe froze.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Hay, Just a few days ago my sewer lind froze up. Now I know how a straight flush beats a full house.

Sorry for your problem and may you have water soon.

    Bless your heart, donnA!

We will be praying for you and your family. Thankful to hear that your mom has a place for you to stay.

I was wondering if the temperature where you live is getting very cold at night because I heard a weatherman say that
they came back to their home and they had frozen pipes that had burst and they had a
house full of water! That happened in the past.

Thanks for keeping us updated donnA.:praying:

    Donna,

Our electricity finally came back on a couple of days ago. The pilot lights for our gas heat were already lit, so we had heat. But no lights or any appliances.

Had to use candles and oil lamps. Lost a lot of food as well, as the refrigerator warmed. Its a real disaster area around here. Its really strange to be in your house, with no electricity, and every once in a while you hear branches from the trees cracking. All I could do was pray that the ones above my house dont break like that...and they didnt!

And I heard the same thing you did about the weather. Another big storm coming next week. Hopefully it will be snow and not ice.

On the bright side, though...all the ice covered trees...and they are all still frozen...are just stunningly beautiful.

Glad you've got electric back, I think most people around us do, except the water plant, that whole area has no electric.
i know we stood around watching and listening to the trees breaking, hoping they wouldn't fall on the house or car. We don't have anywhere else except under trees to park.
It's been pretty cold here at night, warming to upper 20's in day, yesterday most of the ice melted.
And your right, it is so beautiful, too bad it's so destructive at the same time. I did take a few pictures outside our door, never got the great scenery along the roads, figured he'd draw the line at stopping in the ice so I could take pictures, usually he does, didn't ask this time.

A few years ago, we had an ice storm and most of Eastern Ontario and Quebec went without hydro for two and three weeks.

I have a generator, so we were ok.

The hydro wires were almost touching the ground with huge icicles holding them up. I have some photos, but can't find them now to put up here.

    Cheers,

    Jim
