Hey... anyone... I've posted this on two other places on the board, and I can't get anyone to look and give me an opinion. I need some constructive crticism on my band's website. Please go and check it out.

    I took a look too.

Opening page is ok, but not great.

I like the clear message and statement of what your band is about.

How about a listing of the songs you play? Do you write your own songs or just do covers?

How about some short MP3 song samples so folks can hear what you sound like?

I see now that you list that you play both originals and covers under the "Booking" section.
I suggest you add a "Music" section to state this elsewhere.

How about adding to the biographies what musical influences all of you have had. What are some of your favorite CD's or songs?

Overall, a nicely presented site. Hope this helps.

    Grace and Peace,
    WW2'er

i took a look at your site, and it's good. it will be a lot better, though, if you include my picture there. just kidding [IMG]

seriously now, here are some comments:

    1. consider the comments of WW2`er. they're good.

    2. since you're into music, and so does your website, you may want to put more links regarding your music at the main page. your music feature will attract more attention if you put more speific links at the first (or second) page.

    3. more humor, perhaps?

    4. you have there the link: "How to be a christian." this can use renaming such as "How to be saved", or "Are you sure you are accepted by God" or anything that will suggest to its readers that what is inside is the message of salvation.

    Hi Joshua,

Before I start, I'll qualify my comments by telling you I am an artist who is currently undertaking a degree which includes graphic design.

First thing I would say is that you have provided all the necessary info and from this point of view the site is very good.

    However... ;)

I think the design elements of the site could be a lot better. I hope you don't mind me saying that, but I guess thats more or less the type of feedback you are looking for.

I would think about wheather the front page is really necessary, it doesn't seem to serve any real purpose other than delaying entry to the site. You have pictures posted elsewhere and the front page has a lot of unused space on it.

Secondly, and this might be a personal thing to me, but I hate sites where you have to do so much scrolling.

I would move the site contents closer together towards the top left and take out the scroll bar on the left, it shouldn't really be necessary.

I think this would also eliminate the need for the dropdown menu, this cuts down badly on the info which is displayed at any one time.

Personally I would include the references somewhere else, adding more information on the homepage. The most important info would probably be that which relates to the type of music you are playing rather than to who you are, so I would leave the 'about us' on a seperate page.

Don't include any moving graphics, these really effect the time it takes to download the page.

I think you also need to look at the colour of the background, whilst it is a nice colour it is very dominating and distracts from the text I feel. Think about using 2/3 different colours.

Also think about adding some graphics, the site looks a little plain to me, consider adding some links, maybe even one to your Church website, other Christian websites, eg, sermonaudio, and even BaptistBoard.

You could add a link to an evangelical site which would provise further backup to your own 'how to become a Christian' page, include that link on this page under further information or something like that.

You could also link to other music/hymn sites.

Finally I will give you a couple of links which might be useful...

    EASY RGB -

Easy RGB is a cheat sheet for web designers who want to discover the most complimentary colours to use on their site.

    COLOR MATCH

    Simple version of above.

    THE FREE SITE

Visit this site to add some no-cost 'bells and whistles' to your site or find out where to grab a few free samples.

    SITE CONFIDENCE

If you are using Broadband you will need to check how long your pages take to download on lower bandwidths. This site will do this for you.

Anyway, hope you are not sorry you asked. ;) The site is adequate even if you change nothing but all the best with any changes you do make.

    Enda

    Joshua,

I ran a check on your download time for you, here is the result:

We tested your page at a speed of 40 kilobits per second (k) which is the average speed achieved using a 56k modem.
The total download time of the page with all its elements was 31.71 seconds.
The UK average is 15 seconds.
All elements of the pages downloaded without a problem.

    God Bless

    Enda

I like the site but it does need sprucing up a bit. You could also build an mp3 site such as I did and link to it. Mp3.com allows you to upload your mp3s and they will compile them on to cds the way you want them and sell them for you...Check out my sites:
