Here are my notes from last night’s Bible study.......

-THE DOCTRINE OF PRESERVATION- (4)

Continuing with a series of lessons on.....”the Bible’s preservation”!

LETS GO TO....... Rev.22:18,19
====================================
-“GOD’S” THIRD WARNING.....NOT TO MESS WITH HIS WORD-
====================================
-THE WAY WE SEE......GOD’S OMNISCIENCE-
I don’t have to ask any of you...if you believe that God is in complete control:
Because I know you do;

Well tonight’s lesson....is seen from that perspective!

-THE IMPORTANCE OF THE CONTEXT- Revelation 22:16-19
An observation: While studying these last three warnings;
We have been learning a lot from the context of these warnings:

So here’s the context of tonight’s warning.
====================================
V.16A I Jesus have sent mine angel
-THE LORD SPOKE FOR HIMSELF-
(By His personal angel
--------------------
To clearly establish this message.
--------------------------------------------------
Note: This is the only time recorded in Scripture:
Where our Lord....call Himself “Jesus”!
====================================
V.16B to testify unto you these things
-THE LORD’S TESTIMONY.....IS IMPORTANT-
(And that is what preservation is all about
--------------------------------------------------
God preserving “his testimony”!
====================================
V.16C in the churches.
-JESUS WANTS HIS CHURCHES...TO RECEIVE THIS MESSAGE-
(So the context.....of Verses 18 & 19
Is about God preserving His Word for His Church!
====================================
V.16D I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star.
-ONE MORE PIECE OF INFORMATION....TO ESTABLISH THE AUTHOR OF THIS MESSAGE-
(More light on.....”who Jesus is”

➀He is all man: “the offspring of David”
(A direct descendant of David
------------------------
➁& He is all God: “the bright and morning star”
(God’s only begotten Son from heaven!)

V.17A And the Spirit and the bride say, Come.
-GOD’S MESSAGE.....TO ALL THE WORLD-
(To “come”....to the Lord
--------------------------------------------------
-THE UNITY OF GOD’S MESSAGE........WITH OUR MESSAGE-
Both the Spirit and the bride agree:
In their invitation to the world!

V.17B And let him that heareth say, Come.
-THE WAY......GOD’S WORD WAS PRESERVED-
(The “words” were preserved
------------------------
And those that heard & received it:
Repeated it.....”exactly”!
--------------------------------------------------
This is why preservation is so important:
Because God’s “exact” message must be preserved!

V.17C And let him that is athirst come.
-THE FIRST QUALIFICATION.....FOR SALVATION-
(To “thirst” after it
--------------------------------------------------
You have to want it to receive it!
====================================
V.17D And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
-GOD’S “EXACT” MESSAGE.....THAT NEVER CHANGES-
(Salvation is offered “freely”
--------------------------------------------------
To “whosoever” wants it!
====================================
V.18A For
-A LITTLE WORD.....NOT TO BE OVERLOOKED-
(Up to this point...this passage has been stressing
How this “exact” message changes lives:
--------------------------------------------------
And then at Verse 18...the Lord comes to His main point:
And He says “For”....(“Because”)!
------------------------
That is....We can trust God’s message in his Word:
Because of the warnings in Verses 18 & 19
--------------------------------------------------
Another appearance of this little word..........
Matthew 1:20
“But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.”

V.18B I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book,
-A WARNING....THAT ANYONE CAN UNDERSTAND-
(Not requiring God’s Spirit to decipher
Because this warning is for “unsaved people only”:
----------------------
No born again Christian...would ever change God’s Word!
--------------------------------------------------
-THE PERCEIVED LIMITATION......OF THIS WARNING-
As only applying to the book of Revelation:
“this book” Lit.(A document)
------------------------
And although this verse is only talking about the book of Revelation:
A principle has been established by the previous two warnings:
That no one is permitted to “change” any of God’s Word!

V.18C God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book!
-SOMETHING THE LORD....IS VERY SERIOUS ABOUT-
(Anyone who disregards this warning
Will regret it;
--------------------------------------------------
If any man shall add unto these things,
====================================
V.19A And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy,
-A SECOND WARNING.....ABOUT MESSING WITH GOD’S WORD-
(This time about...”removing words”
--------------------------------------------------
-A PROPHETIC MESSAGE......BEING SENT-
(Even though at the time God gave these words to John
The canonized Bible as we know it today did not exist:
----------
Here in Verse 19...God gave John a different Greek word, for the word “book”.....
“the book” Lit.(A book)
------------------------
10 million year ago....
God knew that the final canonized order of the Bible would place Revelation at the end:
And God’s knew that this message in Revelation 22:
Would be the last few words in the Bible
Therefore God gave John this second warning using this particular Greek Word:
Letting us know that God was sealing His Word with this clear warning!

V.19B God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city,
and [from] the things which are written in this book.
-ANOTHER BOOK.....UNSAVED SCHOLARS SHOULD THINK ABOUT-
(The book of life

Because the fact that the are changing God’s Word:
Means that their names are not written in this book!
