weird weather means???

We have had tsunamis, weird wnowfalls, heat waves and more many times before. What is your point.

Joe is correct. God has spoken to us already.

 

There is no way to know about the weather, so I think it's a waste of time speculating. It takes away from more productive thinking and action, plus the Bible is sufficient.

Imo, I don't think the weird weather means anything except unusual weather. I am sure that we go through patterns like this from time to time.

 

as a pre-trib kind of guy... It appears that the rapture will make things like weather patterns shifting a much more ominous sign.

It snowed in Victoria...fairly rare, although not unheard of. I lived there for three years and it never happened.

I think I'm pre-trib (or possibly mid- but I've not had a lot of time to think about this) but I don't think weather plays a part at all.

It's the first time it has snowed in Galveston in 32 years!!!!!!!

They got about 5 inches down there, with up to 7 in some places on the island, while us onshore people got about half that.

It really was crazy for the parts farther south to have more snow than those of us northward.

We had about 1 inch at my house. We're on the extreme northwest side of Harris County, 15 miles from the NW city limits of Houston, and 75 miles from Galveston Island.

I can not remember ever having a real white Christmas until this past year. It was neat.

 

I think most Christians speculate about the end times some time during their Christian walk.

I don't recall off the top of my head any specific references to changes in weather patterns, but I think that verses which refer to famine and pestulence would certainly support the belief that weather patterns will be changed as changes in weather are often the cause of famines.

We have false teachers proclaiming to be Christ.

Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

We have wars. We have famines. We have pestilences (West Nile Fever, killer bees, HIV, cancer). We have earthquakes that are causing tidal waves, and hitting places they haven't hit in decades.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

We have Mormons, Christian Scientists, people worshipping aliens and committing group suicides.

We have martyrs who are killed because of their faith in Christ in places like Iraq and China, and we have people who are fired for standing firmly on God's word in America.

The 1st century had all those as well. Start in Acts.

Personally, I believe that God still works miracles and still speakes to us in our own time. Some think that none of these things have happened since Biblical times but I don't accept that.

 

I was looking at the general implications of the seals etc. from Rev as well as the passage in Matthew 24-25. My point was that weather patterns have fluctuated and move in a cyclical pattern. It seems, though man's stewardship of this planet has had an effect on this. I am of the opinion that while there are some general signs to watch for, No man will have a clue of the exact year or decade or century... until the Lord raptures the believers out of here, and then things will go south quickly.

I agree. It has been happening since the beginning of Christianity, and it will continue to happen until the end. I think we're talking "degrees" of events. The "earthquakes" and "wars" were not that "diverse" in the 1st century.

When Christ's disciples asked Him, specifically, what the signs of the end times would be, those are the scriptures He gave them. I don't think Christ ever said anything without a reason.

Having said all of that - I don't sit around and wonder if tomorrow is the day He will return. I try to live like He's going to be here today, and I try to live with the assumption that I ~must~ witness for Him today - lest someone not the word of God before He does return.

Still, I see no reason to criticize others for what is a very natural curiosity that even the disciples had.

 

God speaks to us via His Word. The issue of "wierd" weather is rather subjective. It snows in Australia from time to time. Tsunamis of catastrophic proportion happen from time to time. It gets hot in Chicago from time to time. These are normal ocurrences on a dynamic earth.

 

Ignoring the events described in God's word is not relying on God's word. In fact, frankly, it smells of ignoring God's word.

 

Normal and natural events are not what God's word is talking about. To infuse scriptural implication where there is none results in misapplication of scripture. This results in the oft witnessed "the sky is falling" attitude among by some well-meaning Christians.

 

So,

What ~was~ Christ talking about?
Why did Christ put that into His holy word?
What did He mean when He answered his disciples that way?

This is one of those things about some Christians that I really don't understand John. God fearing Christians, if asked, "Do you believe all of God's word, and do you believe it is all important," won't hestiate to say yes, then they'll turn around and make remarks like you made about that scripture. Why NOT apply to today? Why NOT look at it, and look at the tsunami, and go, "Lord! Forgive me! I need to do more for your glory! I need to be prepared when the Bride Groom cometh, for He might come today?"

Aren't you really saying, "ignore that part of the bible?"

And, I am not so sure that "sky is falling" attitude is a bad thing. I've lived through several major national-level revivals in this country, and MOST of them started when Christians who had been sitting on their duffs, spiritually, started getting a bit nervous that Christ really MIGHT be coming back today. Nothing shakes a Christian up more than thinking about facing our Savior today.

If looking at the signs makes you the least bit more motiviated to do the work of the Lord, then look at them, study them, shake in your boots when it thunders.
