Next month I will be seventy-three and started going with my parents to church at the age of seven... Joined when I was twenty-two but come Sunday I was always in church... Not only did I grow up in it, I'm third generation, as my father before me and my grandfather... So why are you where you are now and how did you get there?... Was it your parents?... Sibling, Grandmother, Grandfather, Aunt, Uncle, Friend or were you just a seeker and found Christ on your own?... Who influenced you to become a Christian?... Vote and tell us your story if you desire... The floor is yours... Brother Glen:)

My response would be yes and no. My mom and dad took me to church when we were kids, but I would argue that they were cultural Christians. Simply going through the motions. The church was spiritually dead in my opinion. Has anyone heard of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)? They're very liberal, and they've bypassed the truth in many cases.

After my parents divorced, my mom stopped going to church for a while. However, I wanted to go and started to go with my Grandmother. She sang in a southern gospel group, and she took me to church and Sunday school. Eventually, everyone found their way back to the Lord.

My grandmother has had the most impact on my walk with the Lord, but in the last decade we have all saw the light.

Unfortunately, I could not choose any of the three poll questions as my answer. I was not raised by Christian parents and I did not come to Christ on my own.

By at least nominally Christian parents. I was taught about God and Jesus, and I was close to grandparents, who really taught more indirectly than parents taught directly-- that is, by singing hymns even a lullabies, per se, to the younger family members, and by having artwork and plaques, like "God Bless This Home" and a picture of a bearded man with long hair carrying a lamb among bigger sheep. I asked about those things and they told me. But as for going to church, we seldom did that until I was about 8, and then we suddenly started going. I am quite sure it was my paternal grandmother's persuasion that got my parents to start going regularly and taking us.

Very blessed, though perhaps it didn't always feel that way at the time. Raised by Christian parents (father was a pastor). At church every Sunday morning, every Sunday night and every Wednesday night - not to mention the various special services. Both grandparents (on each side) were Christians. Like I said, very blessed.

Though my father was not a pastor but a well respected deacon, I understand, YES we were!... Brother Glen:)

I was raised by Christian parents but began attending church regularly and placed my faith in Christ through the witness of my Baptist missionary Aunt. She later became a Catholic Christian.

No, but I was raised in the South, so we were raised going to church and with an affinity for Christianity.

The problem is that this inoculates a lot of people against the Gospel, because they believe they're already saved because of their lifetime of church activity.

It wasn't until my early twenties that I got saved.

Yes, I was raised by very Godly Christian parents. AND very Godly Christian grandparents.

I have a good friend who was raised in an ungodly home with no Christian influence at all. She became a Christian in her 20's with a later influence.

We both work with children in the church in every way and it's extremely important to us both.

Once, after Vacation Bible School, our pastor called us both to the pulpit that Sunday morning. He asked my friend, "Why is it so important for you to work so hard and for all these years with children in our church"? She said, "I had no Christian upbringing at all. I want these children to have what I did not."

He turned and asked me the same thing. I said, "I work with these children like I do because I want them to have what I had."

I was blessed beyond measure to have the upbringing that I did. To not impart that to children at my church would be sinful for me.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
