I don't know about you, but when I am depressed, there are a few songs that really speak to me... yes even this secular song...

When I have had a bad day, I grab a cup of tea, read some scripture, and listen to this song.

What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.

    WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD

    (George Weiss / Bob Thiele)

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

    Oh yeah

The title of the thread made me thing of this song:

    (What a) Wonderful World
Written by - Sam Cooke, Herb Alpert & Lou Adler

    Don't know much about History
    Don't know much Biology
Don't know much about Science books
Don't know much about the French I took
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you loved me too
What a wonderful world this would be

    Don't know much about Geography
    Don't know much Trigonometry
    Don't know much about Algebra
Don't know what a slide rule is for
But I know that one and one is two
And if this one could be with you
What a wonderful world this would be

Now I don't claim to be an A student
    But I'm tryin' to be
Oh maybe by being an A student, baby
I can win your love for me

    Don't know much about History
    Don't know much Biology
Don't know much about Science books
Don't know much about the French I took
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you loved me too
What a wonderful world this would be

But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you loved me too
What a wonderful world this would be

Bad days come too close together, don't they? That's an awesome song. It leaves a satisfyingly calmness inside me as well. Thanks, tinytim, for reminding me. I haven't heard it in some time. :)

Thanks, tinytim. I like that song, too. I like Louis Armstrong's voice.
We rarely hear songs like that anymore.

One secular song I like, too, is She Believes in Me, by Kenny Rogers.

When I mess up and hurt my wife's feelings, this song comes to mind.

I first heard that song in the movie "Good morning, Vietnam" And loved it. It is a great song and this may seem wierd but I told my wife to play it after my funeral as a request by me! It seems to be so serene and full of hope and the good things. I just really love this song.
    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I want that song at my funeral too. It may be a secular song, but whenever I listen to it I think of God and how grateful I am to him for my life and everything in it.
