Well since we have pretty well exhausted the wine, (no jokes here  ) and we all know who is on which side, can we discuss something else?

Say, Coffee. To be more specific, caffeine.

I would bet that the moderation advocates would have no problems with drinking caffeine.

But what about the ones that are not moderation advocates?
Caffeine is a drug. Do you drink Coffee? If so, you are putting a mind altering drug into your system.

I have had teens tell me that it is wrong to drink Coffee, because of this reason... If I drink it, am I being a stumblingblock to them?

And if someones says that drinking a beer is a sin because it has a drug (alcohol) in it, wouldn't that person be hypocritical to then pour a cup of coffee with a drug in it? (caffeine)

And how many of us Baptists are truly addicted to it? Do You need it to get going in the morning? Do you need it because without it you get headaches?

So are we ready to get rid of the coffee at church?

And before someone says that I am against coffee... I am NOT.
    Just asking.

I actually just ate a package of chocolate covered coffee beans...
Caffeine has no effect on me.

But isn't caffeine a drug? So when we serve people coffee, aren't we serving them drugs?

A drug with cream and sugar - and a bagel at our church!

Honestly, I 'know' a number of Mormons online and they don't drink any coffee or anything else with caffeine at all. Sad...

Seriously, I don't object to mind altering drugs--as long as they are used for medicine. And coffee is medicine to me! I'd be altering the minds of others if I didn't get my cuppa in the morning! :tonofbricks:

Okay, okay, I'll try to be seriously serious. The day coffee is proven to destroy the liver, cause traffic accidents by those driving under the influence, destroy brain cells, split families, cause its users to become violent, etc., that is the day I'll start preaching against it.

Of course, then there was that one time I was driving on an interstate under the influence of coffee, and dropped the whole very hot Mickey D's cuppa in my lap. (Maybe I should have sued.) I screamed for several miles, and might have caused an accident, I dunno, I wasn't paying real close attention to traffic at that time. :BangHead:

Got any Scripture to support your coffee argument. I mean its not acohol you know. The Scriptures specifically mention acohol and thats why we are discussing them. This is a Bible study about things in the Bible.

Maybe I should have worded that different... should we then not condemn anything just because the Bible doesn't mention it?

Crack, crank, meth, or any other drug
These are against the "Law of the Land"
Also, these will make you drunk and I think you will agree there are plenty of scripture against drunkeness?

Coffee is not! and will not make you drunk!

Can't believe how far you all will reach. :)
