What are Seventh Day Baptists?

Perhaps we can start a new thread to discuss if it is okay for a Christian to worship on the Sabbath instead of Sunday.
I would think it ok for any Christian to worship on any day of the week, according to their conscience.

If they taught, in conjunction with that belief, that if you don’t you couldn’t be saved… well not so much

Peace to you

We had an ABC church that had it weekly services on WED pm during the summer so the members could travel on the weekend!

PS - the church disbanded several years ago.
In fact I preached there one weekend - and an older member told me that he had not hear that kind of preaching in years!

The Lord allows us the freedom in Christ to discern for ourselves if we should keep sabbath or the Lords Day, but that would be our conviction and preferences, as big problem is when those advocating sat day of worship makes it such that all must observe that same day in order to be really saved and Christian

According to the Seventh Day Baptist website statement of belief, they do not believe that Sabbath observance is a salvation issue. The Seventh Day Adventists might say otherwise…

I agree. There is no command anywhere in the New Testament to worship on a specific day of the week. It can be any day of the week and our Sabbath rest has been fulfilled in Christ.

In regards to the Lord’s Day, I do not believe that there is Biblical evidence to support that it is referring to Sunday. In context, I believe that it is referring to the day of judgement.

Sda does indeed see that as a salvation requirement issue, for they see the Mark of the beast being when in end times, Christians staying in Sunday worship shall then be taking upon themselves mark of the beast

Apostle John stated though that he was on the Lords Day when he received his book of the Revelation

"Keeping the Sabbath" is hard for Seventh Day Adventists. I know several and they travel to church on Saturday (travel more than is permitted, and violate the Sabbath by biblical standards). Some even cook or eat at a resturant on Saturday, or buy items (some try not to do this).

The Seventh Day Adventists grew out of Millerism (Sabbath observance became a minority position). Until fairly recently most Baptists considered them a cult (I remember when Moody seminary moved from considering them a false religion like Mormonism to Christians with extreme unbiblical beliefs).

Majority of us, including our cult experts, still consider them as being a cult, as they have elevated Ellen White to a level of being a real prophet to them, have a gospel that mixes grace and good works, and requires Sabbath keeping There are saved persons in their churches, but that is despite their bad theology, just as there are still saved in Church of Rome despite official teachings

Could have been, but many in the Second Century were assembling and meeting together on Sunday, what they called the Lords Day now after Jesus resurrection

The Bible itself does not define the Lord’s day as a specific day of the week and it may only be a one time event in history.

I interpret that as if he was transported into the future to witness the day of judgement.

Agree! Which was ‘at hand’, and to ‘shortly come to pass’, not some thousands of years later and still waiting.. .

Depends on what you mean by "us" and "cult".
