What denomination would you be?

If you couldn't attend your current church and current denomination, what type of church would you attend?

If you have a chance, list why you would attend that church over others.

I only voted the way I did because you would let me stay where I am, which is my only choice. Grrr!!!!:tongue3:
The reason is because of all the denomination listed they still proclaim the presence of Christ Body and Blood and that God acts through Baptism.

I am in a situation right now where I cannot attend my denomination's church which is Seventh Day Adventist.

Right now I am going to the Methodist Church right down the road from me. I have been for about a month now.

I really like their Disciple Class and am learning alot from it, which they have on Monday nights. They last for about 2 and a half hours. Right now we are studying the Old Testament people and the trials they went through, how they kept doing the same dumb things over and over again and how God dealt with them. I can really relate to the entire thing right now.

I also like the people, they are exceptionally friendly. The sermons are really very good as well. The Visitation Pastor and a couple of ladies who attend there has been kind enough to give me rides back and forth to the hospital in another town when I had no way of getting there then they invited me to attend their Church.

I would go to a Baptist Church as well, I just havent been there yet. I did go to a Baptist's home a few weeks ago though and they invited me to attend their church. Just havent gotten around to it. It is a little further away than the Methodist Church is from where I live. The two Sisters and the one lady's husband all talked to me for quite awhile about my beliefs and theirs and we really actually have alot in common. I originally met her at the local grocery store and we started talking about God and Church and so forth and she invited me over to their house.

Right now I am not all that worried about doctrine, Im more wanting to fellowship with other Christians who believe in God and study their Bibles. As far as the question "What denomination would you be?" ...I would never be any other denomination besides a Seventh Day Adventist.

Still trying to understand all the various Baptist Churches such as the "Regular" Baptist Church. I cant imagine what the "Irregular" Baptist Church would be... like maybe they all take Metamucil?

Being in a non-denominational church, I don't know. I'm kinda burnt on the fundy scene. I do like the SDA church down the road, I've never heard of any of the "soul sleep" doctrines the people tell me they have. I think they have their Sundays & Saturdays mixed up, but they probably think the same, of me.

Could not step one foot into any protestant offshoot, Presby, Methodist, or anything else. Say what you will about all of us being protestants, I think that's hogwash.

It's actually not so much the denomination that I would base the decision on, since post-modern Christians generally don't use denominational boundaries to look for churches. It's the character of a local congregation that has an attraction for me, not the denominational brand label on the door.

I put Episcopal-Anglican, because there is an Episcopal church pretty close to where I live that is alive with the Spirit and extremely sensistive to the ministry calling of its membership. The pastor is biblically centered in his preaching, their evangelism is relational and they mobilize their lay people by utilizing and appealing to their sense of spiritual giftedness. It's a very young congregation, and since I have three teenagers and a pre-teen in the house, the character of the youth ministry is very important. I don't forsee leaving my current church any time soon, but if I did, I'd go to this Episcopal church, or go back to the Disciples of Christ, where I was originally saved.

I dont really know what Methodists believe but so far I havent heard them say anything that terribly terrible yet. Course I've only been there about a month so far though.

With the Unorthodox Primitives I imagine Cavemen dancing to Led Zeppelin Music... or something like that maybe. Stairway to Heaven...

I agree with you -- so much of it depends on the individual church, not the denomination per se.

I only have a few choices close by: there are two Baptist (SBC) churches, one Lutheran (MS) church and one Methodist church where my neighbors attend. Also, there is a evangelical Catholic church that is very close by, but I'm probably too reformed to attend on a regular basis.

i would not go to a pentecostal church that barks like dogs... lol
but i would attend a pentecostal church which has sound teaching (yes there is such thing as sound pentecostal churches...)

and the other one i would attend -- Mennonite or Mennonite Brethren (was my home church back where i used to live) i liked it. it was sound.

and i still occasionally love the old hymns and piano's - so i'll attend an Independant Fundamental Baptist church.
