What did the Buddhist say to the hot dog seller?

I don't get it. How much do you know about Buddhism, the Fourfold Path, tathagata, bodhisattva, law of dependent origination, vajra, etc.?
Unity with the cosmos, "one with everything," I believe may be more a Hindu concept, especially the "merging with Brahma" sect.
Buddha taught the extinguishing of craving, the total escape from the cycle of birth and "rebirth." Not any blending in with all things.
Buddha would say "let me pass beyond everything."

okay...but I would not want to make fun of devotees of another religion.

Buddhists are hard to convert to Christianity, according to a missionary I heard once, because their faith is extreme compassion and gentleness to all creatures and extreme morality...
...and lots of Christians in Asian countries act greedy, materialistic, offensive, rude, superior, aggressive, hot tempered, etc.
This ought not be.

Yet Magi, who may have been Zorasterian or some strange Persian mystics, honored baby Jesus at nativity.
Jesus taught, did not mock, the Samaritans. James and John asked Jesus to bring down fire and brimstone on a Christ-rejecting town, and Jesus said, "Ye know not what spirit you are of. I came to save lives, not to destroy them."
Now in the age of grace, all, Jew and Gentile, may become one in the Body of Christ. All races, religions, creeds, colors, are leveled to unity in Christ, who now represents the One Universal Religion or Faith, the One Way to the Father, now open to all human entities.
So, no, making fun of other religions is to be avoided, like making fun of other races or cultures. We Americans, and Christians, I'm afraid we've been far too flippant and rude.
We speak the truth in love, correcting those who are in error, but not through hostility, mockery, or "holier than thou" attitudes.
This joke is actually NOT making fun of Buddhists, it is just a bit inaccurate as to what Nirvana actually means: passing beyond this realm of suffering birth death misery confusion, like a blown out candle flame that goes "nowhere" yet is also no longer "here" or there."
Respect wins more to Christ than hostility.
