Do Arminians believe that a person once saved can then lose salvation?

Can one change his faith?
Can one lose his faith? That is, "stop believing"?

If yes, then one can lose salvation. Salvation is based on one's faith condition at the end of this natural life. That is, if you die from this natural life, having faith in God, then you are saved. If you die from this natural life, lacking faith in God then you are not saved.

When are we judged and thereby receive salvation?

Do you mean to say that at the end of our lives God will tally all our brownie points and if we have collected enough, then we will be allowed into Heaven? Which means that we are not sure if we are saved, until we are dead.
Or did you want to say something else?
Difficult to tell from your short post.

Yelsew --

As you probably know, I am still trying to figure all
this out. In your Arminian undersrtanding (and in
that of others'): </font>
• Does every sin cause the loss of salation?</font>
• If only some do, which ones or in what way or how?</font>
• What Scriptures are used in order to define sin?</font>
Are the following always sins? \

ALL </font>
• Lies</font>
• Theft (down to a staple)</font>
• Gossip</font>
• Abuse of any creature or person</font>
• . . . . Oh, you know what I intend! :)</font>

There are many camps of Arminianism - much as there are various camps of Calvinism - save that Arminianism is far more diversified in the point of the perservance of the saints

Dont ask me to explain or defend these viewpoints im not Arminian nor am i Calvinist, Im just repeating what Ive read

1) They believe salvation is lost and never regained
2) They believe salvation is lost but can be regained
3) They believe salvation is never lost

The 5th point of the Arminian Articles of Remonstrance talks about Falling from Grace, i.e.
those who believe and are truly saved can lose their salvation by failing to keep up their faith.

But as the previous poster wrote, I have also noticed that there seems to be a wide variety of opinions held by the present day Armenians.

What do the most of them believe? Or is it evenly split between Catholics who believe that one can lose salvation, and Evangelicals who generally believe that "once saved, always saved".

Abiyah,
First I do not align myself with Arminius, nor Calvin, nor any other man, not even Paul the apostle. I am an 'un-hyphenated Christian', non-aligned to any denomination or congregation. I worship where and with whom I choose to worship with.

Abiya, there is one (1) sin that results in the loss of Salvation, and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
All other sins are forgiveable, and it is our responsibility to confess our sins so that we can receive forgiveness from them, and cleansing from all unrighteousness.

Jesus atoned for the sins of the whole world. Atonement is the "paid in full" stamp on all sin, save for blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. The result of atonement is that sins are not held to the individuals account regarding Salvation.

So, with sins not a factor, and works not an alternative, man's salvation is completely and fully a matter of faith. NO other factor conditions man. Faith is what God looks for in the heart of man. Those who have it are saved, those who do not, are not saved but are judged and cast into the lake of fire.

Please see John 3:16, John 3:18, Rev 20:13-15. In John 3:16 Jesus says that whosoever believeth in Him (God's only begotten Son) shall have everlasting life. Then in 3:18 Jesus says that whoever believes is not judged but whoever does not believe is judged by their own unbelief. Then in Revelation 20 we find that ALL whose names are not found in the book of life are cast into the lake of fire, the second death.

So Abiyah, those who have faith in God pass through death from this natural life, INTO life eternal because they are not to be judged.

Those who do not have faith die from this life only to be judged and cast into the lake of fire.

There is no purpose for compiling a list of sins, for there is but one that cannot be forgiven.

Well then, if the atonement paid the penalty for sins, why is it necessary to confess our sins? Simply so that we individually can be cleansed from unrighteousness. Sins are "spots" on our salvation garments and there are several illustrations in scriptures where we must keep our garments spotless and white as snow for the bridegrooms supper.

Hope that helps your understanding Abiyah.

</font>
1 Corinthians 4:1-5

Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy. But to me it is a very small thing that I may be examined by you, or by any human court; in fact, I do not even examine myself. For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord. Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God.

I trust that you'll agree, the words of God the Son carry more weight than those of any of his apostles.

I have not passed judgment, merely repeated the words of the Christ!

Sure it does. Open your eyes.

We are to be judged when the Lord comes. The only judgement that will happen at that time is the judgement of salvation.

</font>
That is not what Paul is saying. Jesus' Judgment when he returns to reign for a millenium is not the Final judgment, the judgment where unbelievers are cast into the lake of fire. See revelation 20:11-15.

Anyway, this looks more like EladarBoard.com than BaptistBoard.com, I am out of here.

So you are saying that the White Throne judgement is not going to be when Jesus returns? I've always assumed that the judgements were at the same time. If one is found guilty, then on burns. If one is not, then one is going to heaven. To seperate the two judgements is to simply play word games.
