The Truth.
Okay, so exactly what would you actually say?
That the spirit of the animal returned to the earth. Ecc 3:21 KJV - Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
Common sense ought to dictate that you don't utter such words to a child....

The answer to her question is no. If you feel a need to expound on the answer, explain that only humans bare the consequence of faith. Heaven/good reward for faith in Jesus Christ or hell/bad reward for rejecting faith in Jesus Christ.
It could actually be used as an opportunity to go to John chapter 3 and share the gospel.
What makes you think Ecc. 3 is strong meat?
